Different materials handle paint and UV differently. My OnePlus 8 Pro has a lens which lets you see through certain materials, mainly thin plastics because of how it interacts with certain wavelengths. This got disabled due to privacy concerns as you can see through things. But using a 3rd party app you can still access the camera. This is an example of it. You can see the difference between the two materials.

Plastic and metal. My whole front end is PPF'd so the bonnet, bumper, wings

I assume PPF gives full protection against bird poop, whereas naked or ceramic soon sees the clear coat disappearing?

It can still mark the PPF but some self heals a little but isn't perfect. Nothing really is for bird crap but at least the paint isn't damaged instead. Ceramic does nothing for bird crap.

not a sapphire blue owner but I can say that it is quite common the BRZ/GR86 comes with mismatching paint from the factory, no matter what paint.

The worst I have seen is unfortunately my car lol. My rear bumber is completely off and very noticeable in any light.... even to people that don't care about cars cosmetics... I expected some paint mismatch as the car is cheap in its domestic market but this is very bad IMO, even for a pearl white paint. We just have to live with it I guess. I am just really jeaulous of folks who got a nice matching paint on all panels from the factory lol

The comment I received from my PPF installer was that the templates were very accurate for the GR86 and that they went on with very little adjustment required. Even down to the headlight washers.

Hi @Triggaaar, yes i'm happy with the PPF and with VinylOne. Great customer service and he is a perfectionist. One of his comments were that the GR86 template fits really well. I've done over 2000 miles and so far I have not had any issues... and most importantly I've not noticed any more stone chips.

So I've picked up my 86, covered in Xpel Fusion. I asked the detailers for advice on car care (re the ceramic/equivalent coating), and they said to use a PH neutral shampoo. I'd like to do touchless washes over winter, and you generally have more success with a foam that has some alkaline (at least on a bare car, as opposed to a ppf'd one). But is your understanding that we don't need to worry about that with the Fusion ppf?

I have of course looked at Xpel's website, but that's a dog's dinner, only less appetising.

I always wash any car in a pH neutral shampoo.. as touchless as possible. I use autofinesse dynamite as a snow foam with shampoo after and it comes up a treat.
The fusion makes it all shine well after a simple maintenance wash.

I misunderstood this on first reading - so you use a citrus prewash as a snow foam, rinse, and then shampoo. How well does the Autofinesse Dynamite foam up?

I was confusing myself by replying quickly - sorry!

If its not too dirty I might just spray the worst of it with citrus power and let it dwell and pressure wash off before shampooing .. just to give it a bit of loosening up.

If it normal dirty I'll use Avalanche as the snow foam before shampooing.

If its winter crud then I'll spray dynamite before avalanching and then shampooing.

I've even added a little dynamite to avalanche to help it munch the crud and that still foams nicely. As I understand it avalanche has some citrus power in it anyway.

I try not to use dynamite much (especially on my car that only has half PPF and half sealant) as it's a bit aggressive and can dull traditional hand applied coatings
