GR Yaris (Gen 2) Power to a Dash Cam using a OBD-II Adapter

I had a dashcam hard wired, there is a fusebox behind the glovebox, I used a fuse under a removeable small cuver ignition switched. i would steer clear of an OBD power source as it could cause issues later on.

Thanks for that...... I've done more research and as a result I'm coming to the same conclusion that hard wired to the fuse box is less likely to cause issues.

The following video raises some interesting points:

I have one on my van. Garmin dashcam and garmin connector. I have had little problem with but it will drain battery, though that maybe limited to the van as I think the drain is quite high. Defo no warning lights that I would worry about.

Here’s an update on my quest to power a Dash Cam, rather than hard wiring to the fuse box or using an OBD-II adapter, I opted for another solution, that might be of interest to others.

It’s an adapter that utilizes the power behind the inner rearview mirror.

A Mangoal Dashcam Power Adapter for Toyota/Lexus 16 Pin (Model D):

Although not specifically listed as being compatible with a GR Yaris I can confirm that a Gen2 GR has the required 16-pin connector (and Adaptive Cruise Control/Lane Assist).

Note this adapter only provides power when the engine is running.

This adapter can be ordered direct from Mangoal or as I did from Amazon.

It’s a very neat and simple solution(y)

Will this also work with the Gen 1 Circuit Pack mirror?
