GR Yaris Pistonheads best hot hatch vote

I picked the GR Yaris (would have genuinely picked it anyway) Clio 182 and EP3 Type R 👌

Just to amend the supra came 30th out of 31 however the GR86 came 12th (although I guess that’s mainly people voting from reading reviews rather than having driven the car)

EFA - Pistonheads innit. ;)

So true Phil.

Twas said that it's not a hot hatch, its a homologation special... {shall i go find my flame suit for the 2nd time this week?}

Yes Yes Yes... I voted... for the GRY... course I did...! Chill... :)

It might be a hot hatch in some markets, from my perspective I would say it's not really relevant which is the best hot hatch, when the GRY is better then a hot hatch at being what it is to me - a rally car for the road. Not comparable to the hot hatches I've owned/driven.

Voted. Although there's nothing stopping someone who's keen from voting multiple times, so the results can be skewed even more than they would be otherwise.

Whilst I agree the Elise won the sports car round and that’s the car I expected to win. Realistically I expect a clio to top this one. They’re affordable and fun.

106 rallye for me but otherwise GR Yaris. GR is bloody ridiculous.

Golf GTI mk7 is the best hot hatch

Does everything - fits everything in (shopping, dog, kids) fast enough, handles well and build like a tank.

A hot hatch is meant to be an everyday useable performance car.

I own both a GR Yaris and a 7.5 GTI and the Yaris is a better performance car but it isn’t a better hot hatch

There’s a few in that list that shouldn’t be there. Hot hatch for me is an uprated version of a standard hatchback - and a hatchback to me is front engined, front wheel drive.. So the GRY shouldn’t be there because it shares very few parts with its namesake and for its drivetrain.

I agree that the GRY is not a hot hatch. Voted for it anyway. That way it will upset those that think it’s not a true hot hatch, and those that just hate it.

Also voted for the 182 Trophy, because it is the best hot hatch of the last 25 years.

I kept it simple: The Suzuki Swift Sport was a brilliant car

I too voted for the ZC32. I've owned a fair few of that list and I think it's the purest example of what I define as a hot hatch which is not all out performance but a blend of practically, cost, fun etc. They were £14k new when a Clio sport of the same age was over £20k. Practical, super reliable, a real buzz to drive, looks the part, cheap to run, not super common - they nailed it.

The GR is technically brilliant and will go down as a genuine special moment in 21st century car making after things started to get very lame very quickly from about 2010. It's just too shit at being used like a normal car and too expensive to be taken seriously on a list like that though in my opinion.

One I voted for yesterday was indeed this one, loved mine but should have waited for the 5-door as the 3-door rear seat arrangement (no split) became a hindrance in daily life with the tiny boot so sold it.

Other one is the Cupra R. Underdog, it was basically the practical version of the revered Golf Clubsport S. I built my own even more practical version of it (ST) and it was "peak fwd" for me, family car estate and a very good and fast steer (it had Cayman GT4 power (easy) AND weight (eat that Audi RS)!)

Yeah, indeed 'cars I owned vote', but there is probably a reason why one chose those cars, perhaps?
