I received an email from Gazoo Racing Japan today introducing GR Yaris Performance Software 2.0 and 2.0 Lite.

It references this website

When translated into English in Chrome, it provides more detail about this software upgrade.

By rewriting the ECU* program, you can improve engine torque, adjust accelerator response, four-wheel drive distribution, and power steering to your desired settings. You can experience how the car adapts and evolves to suit each customer.

What’s the likelihood of this upgrade ever making its way out of Japan?

The likelihood of that is close to zero. I'm very interested in how they're reprogramming the EPAS though.
I wouldn't mind the power steering being a little bit less assisted still actually.

This is something that’s been offered in Japan for a year or so. Why you’ve been emailed is they’re now offering a few lite options for those that don’t want the full package. An example is just the engine remap is now £480 and you don’t require the steering remap or 4wd adjustment.

Maybe them breaking it down like this will enable the remap to just be offered worldwide.

It would be totally awesome if they introduced some further options for the Normal/Sport/Track modes. I would like:

Normal - Fuel economy of the hybrid shopping trolley and suspension settings of a Maybach in waft mode, lumbar massage
Sport - 300 PS 'Corolla' map with 30/70 split as before but a bit lairier with the ESP
Track - Full Group B WRC flame spitting 500 PS and maximum traction in all conditions, drop below 40mph and it ejects you through carbon roof

Just my thoughts...
