GR86 Pearl White GRR

I
Crikey! How is it April already!?

Only thing that’s new is I’ve just put on the Aero Cover from Driven.Media.

Was £136 inc. delivery - a fair bit cheaper than going for a GR-branded one.

Initially it took a while to hear anything after ordering back in the middle of Feb, so I emailed them to check on progress. They replied promptly and pointed out the bit I didn’t read…that the stock was due end of March. Wasn’t in a rush so was happy to wait.

Turned up on the 31st March thankfully, and after cleaning the car today thought this was the best time to put it on.

Only thing is you have to apply the tape yourself. After many trial runs at fitting and lining up with an “ingenious” yee-ha method, I went for it.

After one heart-in-mouth moment when it stuck on the way in, I think it’s managed to align fine. And because it’s “unbranded” it blends and completes the rear nicely.

Let’s just hope it sticks 🤞
It’s been a while! Life got busy for a few months!
Regarding this aero cover, it didn’t stick for long unfortunately! Both ends lifted so it had to be taken off.

I imagine this was due to a combo of the supplied tape being not the best (in hindsight I should of probably bought my own 3M and maybe some adhesive promoter), after install the UK was pretty wet for a while so may of soaked it off, or it could’ve even been installation error! 😂

Unfortunately the thing got damaged when removing so had to go - frustrating but I hope a cautionary tale for anyone looking to get one of these 😅

I'm a newish owner of a GR86 and had a 987.2 Cayman R that I sold three years ago (had a 987.1 Cayman S before that).

The GR is more fun at normal road speeds (mines on KW coilovers and Fujitsubo exhaust).
Mid engined Cayman platform can be almost too 'neutral' in corners that it flatters the driver. Rear end doesn't move around much and if does you're potentially heading for trouble. I became bored TBH. 911 is more interesting handling car though...overall found Porsche ownership just isn't worth the costs now.
