GR86 Oil starvation

Did we ever get a good bead on how much is "the right amount" to overfill by for a bit of extra protection?

Although I'm struggling to find a decent level surface, I've at about 0.5L over the max mark, on the "low" side of the dipstick, having let the engine sit.

I figured 0.5L as its about half the distance between the two blobs over the full blob. - seems a lot to me!

Problem is fitting that will void the warranty. Catch 22.
If my engine goes then I’ll be going after Toyota to replace it.

Just swap back the standard sump if that ever happens

You have to get past the Toyota warranty inspection guys first. They will find anything to get out of it, especially if they see the sump has been removed previously. There will be plenty of telltale signs it’s been played with.

Simply invoice on the first service to have the sump removed and cleaned because of concerns. Then it is all on paper and tracked to Toyota.

First service get Toyota tech to quote and complete a sump drop and clean. After do your own mods. If engine blows up return to stock. 4d chess

Believe GR86 is and will be fine and ok oil feed wise for street road use regardless of RTV. I did a 1200 mile oil change. And I checked my drained out oil and there were no lumps of anything. I also cut open the old oil-filter and pretty much absolutley nothing much there to see. So I’m 100% content and I think that all is good with the car road use wise.
