Here are some compelling reasons why many of us decide to have a 'new' car detailed and why those on the fence might consider it, although the cars coming into the country now shouldn't suffer from the same grime build up that the first batch did. It also shows a great the method of getting rid of the pesky adhesive lines left over from the transport film without marring the paintwork.

Featuring @Conscript's car and a quick guest appearance from yours truly. 😅

Thanks! Jay told me my car would be featuring in a video, but i hadn't heard any more yet. Time to put the kettle on and have a watch ..

Funnily enough I gave the car a wash at the weekend with Gtechniq GWash shampoo and it seems to have resorted the beading nicely. I've spent most of the morning glancing out the window admiring the finish...

Love watching these type of videos👍
Certainly has transformed the looks.
Would be interested to know the rough cost of a detail/correction as shown.

Wish he wouldn't keep going on about the absolute idiot who managed to put a bit of a scratch on the boot lid while investigating the sticker residue. We should all just move on, be glad that the issue is fixed, and just let said idiot go about his business without fear of any further reprimand or chastisement.

Oh I'll join the complementary beading shot club...

There will be guys watching this, coffee in hand, tutting and shaking their head, I mean, what was this guy thinking 😅

Have you noticed any very light marring/swirls on your car after washing? and around the fuel cap in particular where you push it to open it? I have noticed I have a few and was a bit disappointed, as CSU is supposed to be 10h hardness and not mark easily, but I think it may be the EXO as that is a chemical resistant soft finish.

I haven't, no...although I also haven't really gone in for a close detailed inspection; just given the car a quick look along the side after washing.
I'm also being very careful washing it. After washing, I rinse the car with an open hose using a water filter and let it air-dry rather than using a towel. So the only time I actually touch the paintwork is with the wash mitt full of soap. Hoping that's enough to ensure swirls are kept at bay.

Yeah I'm the same, don't actually dry the car, only contact is a deep pile wash mitt with 2 bucket method.

Given that I spent silly money on their coating, I've also started to buy into G-Techniq products to maintain it. Already had their wash mitt. Purchased the W6 fallout remover last month on KDS's recommendation. Meguairs Gold Class shampoo was running out so I replaced it with G-Techniq G-Wash as I hear that might be better anyway (more of a pure cleaner with no gloss enhancers and stuff).

Pretty soon I'll get a G-Techniq tee-shirt and fleece, a G-Techniq baseball cap, and then I'll convince the missus we need G-Techniq bed sheets. Once all that's done, I can spend the rest of my life boring people telling them about my wash routine.

Cheers for signposting the video @ZN8 ; I tend not to watch this sort of content but this one was really interesting and informative.

I don't know if I'm really fortunate, but I had my supplying dealer clean and prep my car and it looked really good to me: No visible swirl marks, no signs of where the protective tape had been, no 'hologramming' etc.

I suspect this may be due to one, or more, of the following factors:
  • Car is silver and therefore hides any imperfections really well.
  • Dealer prep/cleaning staff were diligent, proficient and using decent products.
  • I received my car a very short time after it arrived in the UK so it wasn't sat in the baking sun for months on end.
  • My eyes are increasingly f**ked as I get older and I can't see the imperfections some of you young bucks would spot.

I’d go with the last option 🤣

For me this just isn't an issue, not convinced you can even see paint issues unless you are 1cm away with a super bright LED bulb?

It's not a Ferrari, it's a £30k Toyota for me and needs to be used, don't want to start by rubbing off a bunch of my clear coat personally and as soon as it's dirty you can't see anything anyway?

Well it depends on your level of fastidious. I just like the shine of a well polished car, and to be honest, I envy you for not getting hung up too much on things like paintwork quality. Because it does become something you tend to obsess over.

And it's exactly because I will be using it as intended, that I decided to get it professionally sorted early on. I like keeping the car clean and well kept and seeing reflections on pristine paintwork...but I hate actually doing it. Having the paint polished smooth and protected with a coating makes washing it much less labour intensive.

Yeah it's only a £30k Toyota, but it's my £30k Toyota, and I want to keep it looking tip top. Don't need a fancy badge to justify to myself and it doesn't mean I won't be out driving it hard every Sunday morning or that the car will be a garage queen. Yes, spending a fair wedge of money on what is essentially a posh car wash probably seems over the top, but this is a little extra treat for myself and my first ever brand new car and it's all part of the experience for me :)

I think some of it for me is blissful ignorance, once you see it you can't unsee it so I don't look.

I do however get it cleaned properly which costs a whole bunch more than the local scratch wash but like you it's a treat!

Yup. That's the thing. I did look once. So now I'm one of those people who lives in fears of sponges and shudders at the thought of a chamois leather.

HELP.
