GR86 New GR86 detailing video

For me this just isn't an issue, not convinced you can even see paint issues unless you are 1cm away with a super bright LED bulb?

It's not a Ferrari, it's a £30k Toyota for me and needs to be used, don't want to start by rubbing off a bunch of my clear coat personally and as soon as it's dirty you can't see anything anyway?
I suffer from mild OCD, so any imperfections on the car definitely play up on my mind.

Dirt and road grime are temporary and easy to deal with, whereas paint defects have to be corrected to become invisible again.

I think it also depends on your use of the car. If you take the car out on a road trip, you expect it to be covered by the end of it. Similarly, if not garaged, it will be exposed to any external elements when parked outside and get dirty even when you don't use it. But it's very satisfying knowing that once you've given it a quick wash, it brings it back to 90% of the new car feel. Or in our case, 200% considering how badly the cars were treated prior to delivery...

Great video by the way.

Add me to that camp. My GT86 was brand new and for people like us, with those type of tendancies, it drives you crackers seeing your immaculately presented new car deteriorate and pick up the inevitable scars of general use. Yet I'm the opposite with a mobile phone, people get these slick smartphones crafted from glass and aluminium, then decide to stick a chunky piece of £10 rubber and plastic to cover it, ready to trade it in 18 months later.

Each to their own, some people seemingly enjoy a badge of honour when their car is filthy and not polished to an inch of its life, as it gives the perception of 'proper use' and some of us get excited watching water bead off immaculately clean paintwork. We are all different.

At the end of the day it is a car, not an ornament, it's not to be preserved but you can still cherish it.

I should have remembered to put that ^ video in this thread as it's my car! (y) :ROFLMAO:

For those who follow me on Twitter I wasn't subtle when I posted about a quick citrus spray and a snow foam when needed (about once a week with the roads as they are atm) and it's 95% there, once you've got it ceramic coated and PPF'd. Someone was saying it's all a scam, etc and ceramic and snowfoams are done by those who have a garage queen which isn't the case for me. It's daily driven and always will be. I know for definite it's worth it and I feel far better for getting it done. Got back to car after work, a bird had sh1t on it, quick spray of detailing spray to loosen it and by the time I'd got home it was mostly gone. Quick hose down and it's fine again.

Which spray do you use? That's one thing I could do with for things like bird droppings. Was considering just using a spray bottle with a heavily diluted mix of pure water and car shampoo.

I use G3 rapid detailer I had to hand but that sounds ideal too and may do the same once it runs out. Just something that's safe you can spray loads on to loosen it off. I didn't wipe it off with a cloth and hosed down once I got home.
