Gave him a good wash.. does scrub up lovely with the hydrophobic PPF shining in the gloom of a grey day

Met with a mate and his Yaris at Bicester Sunday - the '86 looked tiny probably due to the lower front end

In that case, he could have moved the car on the right out of the way, fail!It's my mates photo so I can't take the credit
He was there first and I parked next to him so that's not really fair
He should have adjusted his angle so it was only the 86 in the photo
Has anyone else found the insurance premiums for GR86 have actually gone down substantially this year?

Mine went up from 674 to 810 (Chris Knott). However part of that was because I still had my parents on the policy. When I phoned up, they said they could try taking them off. I also lowered my annual mileage estimate (10k down to 8)...not even sure they ever really check, but it seems to affect the premium. Doing both those changes dropped the premium to 631. Fairly happy with that. Still miss the days of paying 300 quid a year, but I feel less short-changed if the premium at least stays the same or drops a tad.Has anyone else found the insurance premiums for GR86 have actually gone down substantially this year?

Dont celebrate too early...one of the reasons taking my parents off dropped my price is because dad is 74. On the phone the agent said the underwriter wouldn't even quote for anyone over 75, hence why it probably pushed my premium up. So even age doesn't guarantee ever decreasing premiums indefinitely. Not that it matters, I'd only added them to the policy a few years back because at the time it lowered the premium to have a couple of older drivers on it...don't think dad would be seen dead driving a bright blue sports car.Id better not mention that I've never paid more than £400 p.a. for car insurance in 36 years of driving

The best price I ever had for insurance was probably about 8 years ago or so, I think. I remember paying £270 for the GT86 and I must have been about 30/31.

Yes. I'm wondering if it's because they are not so much of an 'unknown' anymore and have become more acceptable as a 'mainstream' sports coupe?

Although a change in cirncumstances means I may start using my GR for work so had a quick check so see what adding another 12,000 miles and full business use would be and for the remaining 10 months it was coming out an extra £240 which was less than I feared.

Mine has effectively halved. It’s not due for renewal until March but I try to keep an eye on it to prepare myself.
Backing up my Google Photos I saw these again from 8th December 2022 - when my GR86 arrived at the dealers. Seems like yesterday!
Just back from the detailers and looking extra shiny - the PPF with ceramic overcoat really makes him shine like a diamond
What were the detailers doing this time? Did it already have the ceramic coating? Also, remind me what ppf you have?
Had Xpel Fusion on since new nearly 3 years ago - still as new. We won x20 maintenance washes so was just using one of them
The ceramic is a snow foam applied coating that's rinsed off a few minutes later. Just leaves everything super smooth as super shiny. The windows and wheels are properly ceramic coated and topped up every year so they're top notch anyway.
