I purchased this car back in 2022 after trying desprately to get a clean S2000 and discovering that the GR86 was cheaper new than a good condition S2000.
It arrived to me in July 2022 and is one of the first B series cars off the line - I had to wait for the A series (first year of production) cars to finish before they could place an order because Toyota has very limited influence over the Subaru manufacturing process in Japan. I imagine the purchase process is very different in Japan so if anyone is interested I am happy to share what I went through.

So far the work done on the car is pretty extensive and I am happy with where it is at.
Mod list from memory:
  • HKS Supercharger (GT Spec 2)
  • HKS ECU
  • HKS Catted Exhaust Manifold
  • Fujitsubo Authorize R Exhaust
  • HKS Hipermax Type S coilovers (I have the Max4SP as well and it would be WAY too stiff for UK roads but is great on track)
  • Cusco trailing arms (for rear camber)
  • GR Performance Brakes (w/ PMU Pads as the GR ones are crap)
  • GR Performance Strut Dampers
  • Valenti taillights (purchased for a kiler discount at Tokyo Auto Salon last year)
  • Grow one-piece carbon duckbill (this is made by Sasaki-san who is the Toyota test driver for the GR86)
  • Grazio &Co Carbon replacements for all exterior trim parts
  • TR-37 Saga SL wheels with Advan Neova AD09 Tires
Imported to the UK last year as a personal import while moving from Japan to the UK using my car import in Derby.

Not driven much in this car yet, only has ~3,000 kms on it.

I had a first gen BRZ back in 2013 and enjoyed that car for a while until I shifted over to something bigger that fit all the kids in it.

If anyone is interested I will make another post about the 40th anniversary GR86 I left in the garage back in Japan (the last photo)

Very nice. Did you do install / have the supercharger installed, or was it already on the car?

Supercharger was installed by my local GR Garage in Japan. They are GR specialist shop connected to some of the Toyota dealers.

This was the first one they had done on the new GR86 but they have a lot of experience building cars and have raced a Yaris in the series in Japan for years so they know what they are doing.

The supercharger is just the right amount of extra kick for this car without going overboard. Easy to have plenty of fun but not so much that you constantly need to back off to keep your license.

Love the way it sits, spec on wheels and tyre sizes please, arches trimmed? Awesome looking car bud😍

That looks great, some subtle mods really do a lot visually for these cars which I think up close are very pretty but with some distance they lack a lot of visual impact and appear a bit generic

Hi

Can i ask if you fitted uk clocks and radio?, im thinking of factory ordering a new GR but need to weigh up if it will be worth it after getting it to being usable.
