GR86 Mudflaps

I ordered the gloss black ones as I'm not a fan of carbon, got an email this morning to say they'd finished processing the order, so assume they're on the way.

I ordered mine on the 15th October and received mine 3 days later. They did say that they had a shortage of fixtures, so this might have delayed them shipping them? I'd get in touch with them on WhatsApp though. They've been good at getting back to me quickly.
Sent them an email and had a reply saying they were waiting for the custom made plugs to arrive.

Both sides cut and fitted. Got replacement plugs through from AP today free of charge which was good of them.

Mine arrived today and tbh I'm feeling a little short changed. Whilst I like that they are a bit lower profile than OEM whilst probably being more effective, it's still 50 quid for a couple of sheets of pretty standard gloss plastic (I didn't want carbon). Perhaps I'd feel less aggrieved if I didn't have to cut the airflow holes myself. Still, I'm looking forward to the lower profile look that doesn't encroach on the sills, maybe I'll feel better once they're on.

Can't sent my out becuase they are waiting on the custom plugs to be made but have sent some replacement ones out to someone đŸ¤£

I agree, I think they're expensive for what they are (even the carbon fibre ones). As you say, if you want the extra holes cut in them you're getting a half finished product which, while it's your own decision If you do want the air holes, It wouldn't have been much more to either pre-cut the extra holes or make them so they block the vents entirely and it would feel more like a fully finished product.

They do look good when they're on and blend in well. It does seem to be keeping the spray down reasonably well too.

They must have got them in late last week so hopefully you'll get yours soon!

My AP ones arrived today, easy fit. I think I'll leave the holes blocked over winter and cut them out next spring, or if I win the lottery I will buy a set of the axis-parts ones đŸ¤£

Removed my OEM guards and fitted the AP ones today. I got the Dremel and hacksaw out to cut out the air vents, but I lost my rag trying to make a nice, clean cut square for the main one like Vithar does, so I just cut it all the way to the edge. Figured it didn't make much difference, although I cut the top one backwards. Nevermind.

Pros:
+ Very easy to fit. If you're fitting to a car without any guards already, it's just remove three plastic plugs, and then fit the guards with the new ones supplied.
+ They do look cleaner than OEM ones. They are just an extension of the arch liner, they don't encroach on the bodywork like the OEMs which extend along the sill. This also means you won't get mud and debris gathering behind them - the OEM ones have drainage holes but were still full of crap when I took them off.
+They are longer than OEM ones so should give better protection.
+ The mounting holes are elongated meaning you can adjust the fit and move them outwards slightly if you have wider wheels, spacers, etc.*

Cons:
- Being honest, they are overpriced. I don't like carbon fibre trim, I went for the plain gloss plastic, so I guess I should have expected it...but it really just just a couple of acrylic sheets, cut to shape and with mounting holes added. Which is annoying considering....
- They haven't bothered to cut out the air vents. Would it really have taken much effort to do so? Yeah, it might not really make much difference, but not having fake vents is the only thing I have to flex on Supra owners with, so I want them kept.
- *The fixings supplied are really cheap. They push into place firmly, and they have a thread with a cross etched into the head, so technically you should be able to undo them. But, the cross is so shallow and the plastic so soft, that there's no way you're undoing them without destroying them.

Meh. They do look much less obtrusive than the OEM ones. Basically invisible from side on, so I'm happy for now.

For those that have a set of the Toyota OEM Mud Guards and would like a set of installation instructions (as a lot don't come with them), attached to this post you'll find the official installation guide as a PDF. Enjoy!

Hi conscript, do you have a photo of your car from a bit further back sideways on. Trying to get an idea of how these look. Cheers

That's perfect, you hardly see them at all. I'm not too much a fan of the OEM ones so this really helps

I guess you're paying for the development cost more than the materials. It's pretty cheap that they don't cut out the vent holes though.
