I could not stand the uncharacteristically quiet exhaust especially with my loud intake.
I cut open the muffler, big opening from the top and two small from the bottom. Drilled out the spot welds holding in the baffles.
Then I welded in two 1.75" 90 deg elbows I had to slightly modify, keeping the small internal resonators within the muffler intact.
I also welded the skin back together but that shouldn't be necessary if you're lazy.
Car now has personality. It isn't quiet nor loud (except for the cold start). I would say this is how the car should sound from factory.
There is not much drone either.

This is what greets you when cutting open the muffler. Take notice of the funny little pipes that come after the baffles (large sieves), they seem to be some sort of resonators.
After removing baffles:
New "Y-pipe":
Welded all together and back on car:
