Usually use the family bus for dog transport but will need to use the GR for a bit, anyone using theres for dog duties? if so how are you going about it seat covers, tethers, boot lip cover? i'm not overly precious about the car but not letting a muddy spaniel run loose on the back seat, also not locking him in the boot

Yup. I've got two medium sized dogs (Labrador and a lab/collie cross). They don't regularly come in the car (we have a Kia Sorento for more day to day duties) but I occasionally need to take a long drive to my parents and bring either one or both of them with me. They are also generally only allowed in the car when clean - I wouldn't use it to take them somewhere for a muddy walk or anything.

I keep a seat cover permanently installed across the back seats (they never get used for humans anyway). It's designed for a more traditional bench seat, so has a flap at the front....I cut an insert into it so it can go around the transmission tunnel, and be tucked under the seat bases. I also keep a big, cheap, soft fleece throw in there, so Lula (the lab) is quite content to climb into the back and tends to just curl up and sleep; generally don't hear from her until we arrive at our destination.

Oscar, being more collie than lab, is a bit more inquisitive, and likes to sit in the front where he can see what's going on. So when he's in the car, I also keep a front seat cover handy; he will curl up in the back sometimes, but more often than not, he ends up sitting in the front seat eventually.

I might be able to get a picture of the covers later if that helps.

We have a spaniel who will go in the car for driving holidays and some longer trips. My thoughts are to drop the back of the back seats down and cover that. She will then access that space through the boot, maybe having to duck a bit and avoid luggage on the way, or jump in from one of the doors.

We sometimes have to put our 2 medium / large dogs (Weimaraner and French Pointer) on the back seats in my Focus. We have a few hammock style covers that secure to the headrests mainly and do the job of keeping 95% of their muck inside the hammock.
Don't forget to restrain your dog with a harness and seatbelt too for everyone's safety.
I think the hammock thing could work in the GR86 once you've got him in it.

Don't think ours are available anymore but like this: https://amzn.eu/d/atf45Qm

I had a boot cover from HATCHBAG.CO.UK for my Focus RS, fantastic product. We have one now for our FK8 too.

I nearly got one from them for our G21 dog wagon, but didn't like the PVC finish for the mutts so went with Titan Covers instead (y)

As it happens, I had to press the GR into service for an impromptu vet visit today as Lula managed to get a grass seed or something embedded in her paw. Took the opportunity to take a photo showing how nicely Lula fits in the back.

However she's now in my bad books, having cost me £46 quid for the vet to basically say "just keep it clean and keep an eye on it". Silly moo.
