Hello everyone, new here on this forum (although I've been taking in the wonderful information on here for the past few weeks) and thought I'd do a small presentation of my new (to me) GR Yaris!

High performance/circuit pack in white, the car was first delivered in July 2021 and had 13.000km on it when I got it last week.
Haven't driven it so much yet but I already love it, incredible car, an enthusiast's wet dream!

Current mods:

Performance:
  • Shiftech tune (315PS/440Nm)

Comfort:
  • Armrest
  • Brodit phone mount
  • Mirror riser
  • Shifter knob (Likewise ghost)
  • RallyFlapZ (fronts only, not pictured)

Short term probable mods:
  • Stainless steel brake lines
  • Short shift mod (FRSG or Forge)
  • Endless CC-Rg pads & oil
  • OEM camber alignement bolts + geo setup
  • Gas pedal raising kit

Long term possible mods:
  • HJS downpipe
  • OEM strut bar
  • Engine & gearbox mount inserts (Powerflex or similar)
  • Lots of additional cooling
  • Exhaust (maybe)

I don't plan on doing anything much to the engine other than the tune that's currently on it.

My usage will be mostly street driving with the occasional trackday/Nordschleife drive thrown in!

Current wheels are the OZ Ultraleggera 18x8 ET35 with 225/40R18 Toyo Proxes Sport

Don't have proper pics yet so enjoy these bad garage shots:

Welcome to forums!
Listed power is near the limit of stock valve train, imo more than enough for street/B-road use.
I'd switch some priorities here:

Hello MarkoS, thanks so much for your input, the future mods were in no particular order but I'm gonna reflect on that! :) Just need to make sure to stay "mostly" road legal (TÜV and all that..)

Welcome. Are you our first GR owner from Luxembourg? What was the allocation for your country (must have been tiny!) or did you import it?
Hey Steve, I've seen like 3 other people on here with Lux plates so definitely not! And from car meets I have seen in Luxembourg it's a pretty "common" car

I bought second hand, was lucky to find one in great condition with not much mileage

*cough*

Anyway, Moie @man-spider, maybe see you around! There are quite a few here, I even saw a red one last night in Cents.

As for numbers in the country, the importer covers Belgium and Luxembourg and couldn’t/wouldn’t give an answer for how many they’d sold here when I asked them.

Gudde Moien @Duke !

I might have seen you exactly two weeks ago in Gasperech at around 16:10, is that possible? Guy with a big beard, and the license plate looked similar
(I was on my motorcycle that day)

Also sidenote: where do you think I should do my maintenance: Caravenue Bartreng or Deltgen Ettelbréck? I want the best for my car, any positive/negative feedback from either of those? Thank you!

Moien :)

Nope 😁

Apparently there will be around 100 in total (delivered and not yet delivered) in Luxembourg.

@man-spider & @Duke & other people from Luxemburg:
--> I am in a Luxemburgish GR Yaris FB-Chat group, there are already 30 people in it. Send a PM if interested to join.

Haha yes, I have a beard and I drive the thing most days, so it's entirely possible that was me.

I've had one service at Metti Völzer in Roodt and one at Car Avenue, both were fine, with Car Avenue being the more traditional 'main dealer experience', and Metti Völzer being a little more homely as they are just a service centre in a small town.

Don't know the Ettelbruck garage though, sorry, but I see they are no longer going be an authorised Toyota dealer...!

I guess it depends on where you live as to where makes sense for servicing.

Thanks for the good information guys, and sorry for the late feedback 😅

I sent you a PM @DobiLux for the FB group!

About the car: not much new but I got rid of the Shiftdreck repro, feels more linear and like a naturally aspirated car now, I think I actually even prefer it! Just need to go a little bit higher into the range to find the power but that's how it should be IMO. Just can't cruise around in 4th gear at 50km/h as much anymore but that's fine 😋

You got rid of the remap?! That must be a first.

Was it because of issue with the map (hesitation, flat spots etc.), or just the way it changed the way the car drives?

From the way you describe it, I gather you’re maybe not a fan of the company either?

Yep! Don't know why I would want to run such a map on a fully stock car, IMO the hardware should be upgraded before upgrading the software, and I don't want to run into reliability issues later on, especially since we have the 10 year extended warranty from Toyota here in Luxembourg

Map was good (Autotuner tool) but boosted up to 1.7 bar at some points (25°C outside temp) which is too much for my taste. Same with the torque, 440Nm is too much for stock, every good tuner that knows the car would limit it to max 400Nm. Or maybe I'm being too cautious and it would handle the tune perfectly fine but I feel more at ease now.

Good for people who run from red light to red light but not for me, I prefer more linearity. (But that's subjective of course)

I guess Shiftech can be good if you know what you're getting into but from what I've experienced they're only interested in numbers (big numbers on the dyno and in their bank account), they're not really that concerned about your car. Also pretty unfriendly in general and I got treated like shit when I asked some technical questions about what had been done to the car and the tune in general, probably because they don't know it themselves. But that's just my experience, plenty of people have positive experiences with them so YMMV!

Thanks. I’d heard variable reports on them, good to have some first-hand feedback.

For now I’m happy with the DTE box. Nothing like those figures though, maybe 285 ps and 400 Nm, but it is much boostier on partial throttle which I like.

Are you going to the event at Knauf in Pommerloch on 26/08?

Yeah the DTE looks good, need to look into that, and those figures look perfect!

Didn't know about it but I just checked, is it this tuning event? Are you going as a spectator or to expose your car? Not really my vibe but why not 😋

Oh, it’s not really my scene either, but a friend helps with the organising and asked if I wanted to go.

Strictly as a spectator though!

Some very nice motors, some...not so nice :D

I parked outside the centre and walked a bit to get there. Glad I did because it was super busy and despite the best efforts of the organisers and police, it was crazy getting in and, I assume, leaving at the end.

I gather the power failed around midnight which made it even more chaotic, but I was long gone by then!

Yeah I heard it was absolute chaos traffic-wise! Sounds like a memorable day though :giggle:
