I only pick the car up on Wednesday pm. This warning came on yesterday then disappeared and the same happened today. My car is parked on a sloping drive, could this have something to do with it ?

No I was driving the car when the light came on. Why would I be checking oil levels on a brand new car. Surely the PDI would make sure there was enough oil in the car for 100 miles.personally id delete the post....the oil warning light came on...instead of immediately checking oil level...you drove the car
It's a brand new car, why would I check oil levels on a car that's covered so little miles3 litres short, holy ****! I'll do the swearing for you. Hopefully there won't be any lasting damage. Oil is a bit of grey area as we/the owners are supposed to check it regularly and keep it at the right level. Did they provide a checklist when you got it and have you checked for leaks?
You're right you shouldn't have to - but.....see above. It's a brand new car, why would I check oil levels on a car that's covered so little miles
Which dealership did you collect the car from? If you purchased directly from Toyota UK I understand the PDI is carried out centrally by them and not the dealership. Shocking news though! You are not going to believe this, I took the car for a drive today, no warning lights for 1.5 miles then the oil warning light and alarm started, gingerly drove the car home and parked it on a very level surface.
After letting time for the oil to drain to the sump, I checked the oil level to find my engine was lacking 3 litres of oil. The car has only covered 101 miles.
As we are such a nice bunch I'm not going to swear, but the dealership has received a phone call from me expressing my discussed and I was a gentleman throughout the conversation.
I have video evidence of the oil check and the amount of oil I added.
A very concerned GY Yaris owner
I have no oil on my drive. It's a very disturbing situation, you wait for 15 months for the car to turn up, and then the bloody thing decides to go on a bender and drink oil, or was the PDI rushed or not done ?It's very hard to know if the gr has any type of oil leak too because of the undertray ..it soaks up oil so easy and shows no sign from underneath looking too that there's oil
4,000 isnt stated anywhere, don’t overload the engine, peak torque can be just as bad , as you get high cylinder pressures with a boosted engine.I now have the car back and taken it for a spin, keeping below 4,000 revs and all seems fine. Having calmed down now I actually realise that I have a 10 warranty, so why worry.
Most importantly my cars issues are now logged, and video evidence . Oh and I've got my car back
Happy days
Peak torque/max cyl pressure is beneficial to seating the piston rings correctly. Key difference is duration, only short bursts rather than continuous max load.4,000 isnt stated anywhere, don’t overload the engine, peak torque can be just as bad , as you get high cylinder pressures with a boosted engine.
I've been on the planet long enough to make sure things are documented.4,000 isnt stated anywhere, don’t overload the engine, peak torque can be just as bad , as you get high cylinder pressures with a boosted engine.
I literally watched the 4,000rpm myth start on the other forum / FB . Sorry it just gets me. Haha no offence
But enjoy and your exactly right that’s the warranty is there for this. Glad you got it logged.
As @Onehp says vary load and rpm. wait for oil to be fully warmed, I tried to avoid any length of time at max load but I went to redline a couple of times. I guess what I’m saying is don’t worry about the 4,000rpm “limit”I've been on the planet long enough to make sure things are documented.
So where do I stand on running my car in ?. Should I be giving the car full beans or driving like Miss Daisy
