I noticed the dealer demo was about 1000 vins behind mine and technically a 22 and on my phots it's on the right. Mine's a 23. We'll see tomorrow but me and you were on the same boat I'd assume we'd be the same

'23 model here ("P" under year in the VIN), Volume button's on the left as per the manual and I have holes in the rear bumper (at least two, but I haven't checked underneath the plate yet).

My 1006 order Electric Blue MT GR86 have a LHD headunit fitted, where the volume dial is on the passenger side, etc.

Anyone else have that as well?

Are we even sure its even "wrong"? After all, the UK manual above shows it on the left. I've just checked my girlfriend's Kia and that has a headunit with the volume on the left, and thinking about it, I think the volume was on the left in my GT86 too.

Yes it's wrong for a right hand drive car. You have to remember that most cars we get destined for the European market means we get LHD controls such as indicators on the left (which is for LHD, they should be on the right). I much prefer to have the volume on the right (it is on my Yaris) as it's simply easier to reach. It's not a massive deal though, as you do have volume controls on the wheel.

My bet would be Toyota/Subaru having supply shortages and just using whichever units they had available to finish the assembly. I wonder if there are slight head unit firmware version differences that may affect future software updates as well.

It doesn't really bother me having the volume control on the left as I use steering wheel controls for that anyway, and it makes it easier for the passenger to use.
