It is time for a wristshot

Replace or accompany? If you are anything like the rest of us horological hoarders it’s almost impossible to part company with a timepiece…
Replace. I don't collect watches and only ever have one watch for everything.

This turned up yesterday, pretty happy with it!

Seiko mini turtle, JDM only ... browsing Instagram on the weekend after a few whiskys was my downfall :ROFLMAO:

Say hello to my "bluetiful" Grand Seiko SBGX265 :D

The dial dances like crazy in the sun. Its colour varies between darker shades of blue and is gladly kissed by violet. The indices are small works of art and the camera cannot even capture the level of detail. Perfectly polished and with fine lines on the top that sometimes reflect the light like a rainbow depending on the angle of view

Magnificent.

A superb choice and when you mentioned a blue Grand Seiko I thought it might be one of these. :)

That dial is absolutely gorgeous.

(I have one of the "sister" models - the SBGX295. Japanese market only - same movement and case, silver dial, slightly darker hands and hour markers, strap rather than bracelet. Expect incredible accuracy - +/- one second a year!)

Love the sunburst blue dial.

Decided to clear out my wardrobe shelf earlier and dust off the watch boxes.

Nice to have everything back on display.

(Most of the watches in the case are cheap quartz things but they're still nice to look at)

Popped into my local Rolex AD yesterday and had a look at these. It's a long time since I've been in and they actually had some stock to show me.

Not normally into gold, but both were very nice - out of curiosity wanted to see the new Deep Sea but they've not had one in yet.

Nice watches but Rolex’s gold prices went up again on 1st June, so I’m not surprised that the all gold GRNR is sitting available, considering the RRP it is now!
The YM Oysterflex resides in an odd position in their range, so they are a bit marmite IMO.
If you have a look at ‘The honest watch dealer’ channel on YouTube, both of those are (to quote his buy or pass mantra) “a million percent pass” if offered by the AD, as new ones are instant money losers and can be had cheaper on the grey market. Even my Yellow Rolestor GMT2 ‘Guiness’ is now on the “million percent pass” list if bought at today’s £15,050 price tag - how lucky I bought it last year at the release price ‘low’ of £13,800 eh… 🙄. Sheesh, I might break even when I sell it in the next few weeks 😬. I think only my White Gold, Mint Green Dial DJ36 is likely to yield a chunk of profit if I were to trade it, but it’s such a classic timepiece (like my old OP39mm) that I may hang onto it for a while…
The Deepsea eh!? Now there’s a heavy hitter! 🏋️‍♂️

The best precious metal with a Rolex is SS, everything else is overpriced @Sonic . :ROFLMAO:

I wouldn't buy the gold Deepsea but wanted to see if my wrist could lift it - I'm familiar with the SS versions.

Hopefully the next and possibly final watch for me is a steel panda Daytona, but very tired of waiting.

Agree re: the SS. Both my SS Hulk and Pepsi went for very tidy sums at over double their RRP. As for the Cosmo, I’ve been on the ‘Panda’ interest list with my AD since 2018! Unfortunately, I have to contend with Scottish ‘A list’ national rugby players, celebrity chefs and TV personalities, all of whom are customers at this particular AD - I know that one of these has certainly leap-frogged me as I was in the showroom at the time they expressed an interest (I’d been on the list about 3 years already) - the next time I saw them on TV they were feckin’ wearing one! 😡

That's the sort of thing that puts me off Rolexes. In recent years they've just become status symbols, and about money rather than about watches.

Well for today at least, the Rolex resale market is bloody awful. If I was to get shot of it, my GMT-Master II 'Guinness' is trading at below RRP. That said, my OS/White Gold DJ36 with Mint Green Dial might just see me gain a tiny profit. Neither of which are worth considering at the moment. 🤷‍♂️

Good. I don't like the market where people buy a Rolex for profit, just like I don't like it when they do the same with a GR86.
Simple laws of supply and demand.

Nothing wrong with buying anything that can be spun to a profit.

Got a submariner for £4k in 2010, its doubled its value- what in your world, is wrong with that?

Well it's not a crime, but I'm allowed to dislike it.

What I don't like is when people who want to buy a product, aren't able to, because others (often mates of a dealer) have bought them all, even though they don't even want the product.
