Hi All

Sad to say I have sold my GR86 today. It’s been great and I certainly had not got bored with it. Just decided with only 5 years until retirement now is the time to scratch some other car itches while I am still earning and have the the option of working an extra year to cover any mishaps.

Probably should have decide this before fitting the CTEK exhaust that was big improvement. Sold it to a mate. I still have a set of standard GR86 wheels with fresh tyres not sure how much these are worth currently. Anyone got a clue?

I have purchased a lotus Evora 2010 N/A with 300hp chip and exhaust upgrade very tidy car and sounds pretty good with 3.5lt V6. Always been a big Lotus fan and I still have Toyota engine. Still have my MR2 as well.

it’s been great on here and I will keep an eye on the forum occasionally.

Always fancied an Evora, they have kept their value extremely well. I’m sure it will be an interesting experience. On the wheels, I have been keeping and eye out as I still have two wheels with small buckles. The only set I have seen were on eBay for around £1,400 with no tyres. But they have been on for a while and not sold. I hope you enjoy Lotus ownership, an itch I must scratch at some point.

+1 :)

Interesting to see the height comparison.

I had an MR2 many years ago, was the least reliable car I've ever had. It was 16 years old and had 150k miles though 😂. Had a leaky t bar roof and whenever I drove it I had to tuck my jeans into my socks so they didn't rest on the sodden carpet.

I remember have to replace these steel frames that had rusted through. I swear the exact same parts are in the 86 engine bay too!

I do miss the pop up lights and the indicator stalk on the wrong side. A previous owner had spent a fortune on the stereo and a fancy alarm. My 32 year younger car lacks in the latter 😂

Hope the Evora gives you plenty of smiles GRpirate! Thanks for being part of the zoo gang. Just out of curiosity, what else do you have on your pre retirement car bucket list?

Hi Alex there not worth £1400 I was thinking more around £1000. I know that when I price them 2 years back with tyres TPM nuts. They were around £750 each that was main dealer prices.
Yes the Evora nice. Lot less playful than GR but more of an event especially with the 2tublars full exhaust and headers. Your not far from me as I am near Southampton

Ha I have had the MR2 2.5 years and used it all year round and it’s never had any issues. I had to fit new discs and pads and after about 8k miles the suspension was getting tired so I fitted BC coil overs wit there softest springs and four wheel aligned it total cost 1k.It was my only car for 7 months over a winter an was doing 1200-1500 miles a month. Claiming £400 car allowance a month milage. It now on a genuine 82k and was one family owned before me . I would not estimate to set off on a trip round Europe in it. Never uses any oil and has perfect compression. I love it

Can understand the swap to the Evora, I drove an S & 400 IPS when I was buying my Elise. If I could have made the man maths work (and the S wasn't matte black), I would have bought the Evora. A truly sensational car - handled like a more grown up Elise, but settled down into a competent GT, and sounded great, too.

Does it have an alarm?
Yes conscrip it has an Alarm and imobiliser. However it does not have a coat Hook, cup holder or USB connection. It does have a glove box with electric soft opening but when I tried to put the owned handbook in there I realized even that does not fit😂
Also although it has an Alarm the doors have those 1970S style pull up push down button on the door that you could probably open through the not inconsiderable panel gaps with a bit of wire🤣
