GR86 Having a bit of an ownership wobble - talk some sense into me perhaps?

I had a similar realisation with my type-R. Driving at 8 or 9 tenths rarely saw minimum corner speeds below 70mph on any road that wasn't too narrow for the car. It's fun but probably not the wisest thing to be doing.

I'd take a bit more power and grip in the GR86, but at least you can still have fun at low speed thanks to the RWD and balance. a heavy right foot out of a T-junction on a closed private road with the TC off should cure most people having a wobble. Just don't blame me if it goes wrong :)

911 would just seem big after stepping out of an 86 I think. Cayman GT4 a bit too extreme for me for daily use so I’d make it a 4.0 GTS instead. Possibly even in Boxster form *Opens Autotrader*.

We've a '21 320d touring and it's superb for long distance holidays to France even with our 2 big dogs.

Remember that some of these reviewers just want to go a million miles.an hour constantly.

If I had to only have 1 car, a smooth petrol (or even big diesel) 3er touring would be high on the list.

I noticed that when I test drove the smallest Porsche in the line up, a 981 Cayman, it felt big in comparison to my 86 and width 275 steam roller width tyres it just had so much mechanical grip.

Now If I could just shoe horn a 2.7 MA1 engine in a GR86 it would be the perfect sports car. ❤️

It's a good thing that you're able to find the enjoyment in a good car on good roads. Doesn't take anything away from enjoying an even better car.

I’d only swap the GR86 for a 991.2 GT3 Touring 6MT RWS but I’m predictable, shallow and flawed.

On road a GT86/GR86 will be more fun, more of the time.

GRY, RS3, 911 et al can do A to B quicker but you’ll be effortlessly nudging [or beyond] three figures everywhere - with the spectre of disaster, a ban or custodial sentence haunting every drive.

The flaw of high performance cars is they flatter anyone - a monkey can cover ground fast in a 992S.

For the genuine track hound, looking for a weekend fix: GT4 6MT.

Real world, daily: GR86 unbeatable at the price.

If you don’t have to sell my advice would be, don’t do it.

Steady on man… Lol. Ok, serious, it is natural and human enough to wonder is something ideal for you. Pardon me if I’m too brutal. What we wonder is can we adapt to suit etc etc. It’s all a mind set. If it were the only type of car and/or the only actual car in the world then you’d be totally happy as. But as it is you have choices and can afford. I believe in sticking with our choices in life and if truly not right then act. Cars like 86 are like a Moto-Cross motorbikes in that if in used in the wrong place and/or used incorrectly they can be a pain as they don’t compromise much but if used as intended designed for in the right places then they can really reward. Basicly if been used as grabbed by scuff of next type they are grand but can punish if input mistakes are made or the wrong environment I.e. road or track is use etc. So what I do is up my game and/or just live with it. And if cannot and can do so easy enough evolve into what suits best at the time/time of life etc. I think we are lucky, but that’s my easy pleased and my find the positive and make things work approach aka as said I alter the mind set. Everyday above ground that can ride and/or drive is a good day. But know what you are feeling. And yes writing it down helps. Hope that this helps
