GR Yaris Has anyone replaced front discs?

I'm gonna wear my OEM's down to 25mm, makes them lighter and keeps my wallet heavy ;) But good to know what to get later.
The OEM's -- with timely caliper cleaning/greasing -- should last quite long

I tracked mine and when I replaced them at 26k km they had 27.3mm left (except the uneven outter wear of 26.7mm)

0.7mm worn out of 3.0mm, that could mean 100k km total life

I could easily have gotten another six months out of them (car is at 33,000 km, 21 months), but have the forum Pyrenees trip in June and would NOT want to attempt that with end-of-life discs!
Fair enough. I do the same but with tyres, get pretty cheap fitments but replace (well actually sell them) at 4-4,5mm as I do trips often in adverse weather...

Guys, why are the Toyota discs so expensive?

On my 911, Sebro front discs are £190 a pair on eurocarparts.

It doesn't make sense.

Good quality third party discs are available for much less though.

Not quite £190 mind, but I'd question putting ECP cheapies like that on a station banger, much less a GR or 911.

late reaction, but stumbled over the thread by doing a research on new rotors :)

you cannot compare it to the OE 911 disc. look at the construction of the disc and you will understand. the OE Toyota disc is a 2 piece construction, aluminium bell carrying a cast iron friction ring. it adds all the benefits like weigth reduction, some amount of freedom for expansion under heat = less tendency to warping, better heat management imho...

the OE 911 disc is just a simple 1 piece cast iron design.

nevertheless, we are still in a paradox situation, where buying aftermarket does virtually add 0 performance gain (maybe marginal weight reduction, better expansion capacity), but adds a little saving in $€ :D
in some cases even more saving in the long run, as long as the friction rings are available separately. (OE Toyota is riveted, so when the friction rings are done, you have to replace the whole rotors again)

this brake topic is funny. raced with lw (960kg/211hp) 944 by using stock (one piston, 298mm OD28mm) brakes. No heat issues whatsoever.
Of course GR is heavier car but still. Cannot say my GR is much faster on track than the race car. well, ok, maybe straight end speeds are one click higher but still.

I have had a set of disc from Litchfield (Alcon)
They so far are looking very good

A friend took me for a spin in his 488 gtb with carbon brakes, you really have to recalibrate what a brake set up can do when you experience it.
