What are the alternatives to a GR86 at a similar performance and price point (assuming it’s in the £30k to £35k range), if any? The only one which springs to mind would be an Audi TT. The Alpine A110 is around £55/60k and I think a basic Caymen is around £45k.

If you value:
- bespoke shell
- NA
- Manual (if looking for a manual)
- Proper handbrake
- relatively lightweight
- more practical then a 911

Then there aren't any alternatives new, and barely used either dare I say.

If you're just looking for a 'nice coupe', that's something else.

I had an FTO back in the day - which was a similar type of vehicle... fwd though... Now, the only cars I looked at where 2nd hand in the same price range as a new GR86 - Porsche Caymen/911, Nissan 370Z, Audi R8, Aston Martin Vantage, or Lotus Elise/Exige. Maybe a Noble if you could find one... All quite different cars, and with much higher maintenance! Im gonna be patient and wait for the GR!

Nothing. Cars that have been on my list are quite different to a GR86. Wanted a FK8 Type-R for years after a test drive made me question if I really needed to go RWD. It demolishes any road it's on. But quite costly now and a similar blue to the 86 is about £40k. Think I'll still get one eventually but the 86 will be a keeper. Considered M2 Comp but again too expensive, running costs would add up and insurance is pretty hefty. Supra wasn't considered as I need some boot space to carry a bike. The 86 will with a wheel off (tested with my brothers) and while I've not driven one I suspect it won't feel as tight as it looks.

My other option was to give up with cars altogether and buy another 2 bikes. Been commuting on bike since Feb and loved it. I pass probably 300 cars on the way home via filtering and think why am I buying another car?! But I want a car to fiddle with again, to learn, be part of a community again and rage against the dying of the light.
