GR86 GR86 - The clutch pedal thread

Does anyone know if a M-TEC Clutch spring actually helps? Thinking about it after a year of daily driving in heavy Traffic.
Night and day difference for me. I have no issues at all now, I didn't use the mtec spring I bought mine from Lee Springs as it was significantly cheaper (although unfortunately there is a minimum order/spend from what I remember).

This is normal. Had it on the first gen to, caused by the still spinning input shaft being stopped by the synchro as you mesh the gear.
If you hold the clutch and leave a few seconds, and then engage first, it probably wont happen as the input shaft will have slowed down, nothing to worry about.
Yes I tested this.

Never noticed it before, but I usually drive old stuff, the knackered input shaft bearings probably mean it spins down faster.

That is good to know because initially I thought I had adjusted the clutch bite point too close to the firewall! :D

So I had my clutch spring sat in the packet for many months now and of course it's the perfect time to fit it between Christmas and New Year, slobbing around eating too many sausage rolls so thought it was best to start challenging my flexibility, and boy did I.
I had actually got used to how the clutch felt, but did wonder how much of an improvement it would actually make so I went for it and thought i'd add my 2p here for those on the fence.

Agree with most of what I've seen in this thread , however for those who might have felt like they've got used to it and not that fussed, I get it, i do. The first 10-15 mins out i thought 'meh, its different, bit weird feeling but cant see it being better.' Was cursing the fact i'd cut my fingers and given myself a wonky posture for not much gain here.
...Then i pressed on a bit, tried a few fast gear changes, a launch from 1st to 2nd, a few heel-toes (best effort..) , and it is definitely better. There is less lurch, less guessing , despite me previously being completely used to the car (23k miles!).

Overall glad ive fitted it, wouldnt suggest I can feel more, but the main thing for me is that its stopped pinging the pedal back at that bite point which created some uncertainty. Now its just one less thing to think about.

Hope this helps anyone in the same shoes as me
