Tuning Package NA Performance Upgrade Drive In, Drive Out for Subaru BRZ Gen 2 Toyota GR86 FA24 22-on Models - Tuning Developments Ltd
Tuning Developments NA Tuning Package for Toyota GR86. Tuning Developments have been working with the popular GT86/BRZ FA20 platform since 2012. Having had huge amounts of success in that market, the transition to the newer, FA24 GR86 platform was inevitable. Much the same as the...www.tuningdevelopments.uk
There we go then! 250hp with a front pipe (primary cat delete by the sounds of it), overripe, and i assume the GPF remains as theres no mention of changes to the front pipe.
I'd imagine it's quite loud if you have a gpf back exhaust already and then go removing a cat.
Throttle response catered for apparently.
Not to mention it being stated as 'off road use only'Cool! Bet that'd f**k the warranty!![]()
Some people run decats and go through a pain in the arse procedure to get it MOTd. Whether especially that's swapping it out or finding a dodgy MOT guy.Honestly, maybe it is the way these things are but it appears to me that nobody does tuning with the oem cats in place, I would think there is a business for it but looks that I am wrong and people are happy to have non legal cars
I can't possibly imagine having to swap it out twice every 12 months. It's not an easy part to unboltSome people run decats and go through a pain in the arse procedure to get it MOTd. Whether especially that's swapping it out or finding a dodgy MOT guy.
For me, as long as I can insure it and it passes a MOT, that's enough. On the first gen you could install decat manifolds and the car would still pass the MOT with the 2nd cat. Now you would have to get a catted front pipe made up to pass the MOT with a decat manifold.
The old TD kit my brother had and it is loud. It's also now broken somewhere so we need to go back up to see Mike but it's had 6yrs of hard work and the car itself is quite tired now. Not sure if he's doing MOT's too but my brothers always struggled to pass emissions after it. He had to get it really hot for it to pass.
UK cars only have 1 cat and it's in the manifold. We have a gpf and hemholz resonator in the front pipe. How many cats did it have? Just the one?
I'm wondering if this new TD setup with 1 cat and a GPF would spund somewhere near to having two cats and no GPF.
Maybe removing the GPF is more hassle than it's worth too.
Personally I'd want two sports cats and no GPF, not that I'm going to mess with any of it. I'm guessing it'd match up closely to the US cars with cat back exhaust then.
I can hear what the US based GR86's sound like on YouTube with what I assume is only 1 cat and they sound obnoxiously loud, and frankly awful. my worry with that TD package is it might end up sounding like this:
Thats UEL but you get the picture...
If anyone is getting impatient and wants a catted UEL manifold for a gen 2 to get the most out of a remap while remaining legal. This is currently the only option. HKS make a EL one available on fensport. It makes a "stage 1" quite expensive as you're looking at over a grand just for the manifold but it is what it is. There aren't many other options available. It won't sound like an exhaust for a child as that one does. The issue is much more around legality. I just think that it's more of an issue. A remap on the stock setup with a way to take out the rev hang issue would be what I'd be looking for. But I want to keep it legal. There are insurance implications to consider too.
There are about 4 or 5 catted ones.If anyone is getting impatient and wants a catted UEL manifold for a gen 2 to get the most out of a remap while remaining legal. This is currently the only option. My brother's when he had it new but we had the full of exhaust too. It is on the louder end.I'm seriously considering the tuning developments N/A package. The price is very good for header, overpipe, filter ecutek licence and tuning! I have about 20 months before my MOT is due so I figure that's enough time to decide whether i keep their header, go back to standard or get something else. The only thing I'm concerned about is the noise. They said they can disable the cold start which will help massively, but with a AWE touring already fitted, I think it is going to be rather loud.
Now, I'm not bothered about it being loud as I thunder along enjoying myself. It's more that i don't want to wake up everyone on the street, including my wife and soon-to-exist new born daughter. Does anyone have previous experience on a first gen car with a similar set-up?

Look forward to hearing your thoughts! Are you going Unequal length manifold or equal length? Thanks. the volume isn't too bad on Tickover, and their exhaust looks, if anything to have less dampening than the AWE. I can start up and roll off my slightly sloped driveway with no throttle so it's only really the idle / low throttle that I'm concerned with being overly noisy. So long as they can turn off the cold start, I think I'll go for it.
