The waiting list is now closed and I must be one of the last names on it (I didn't realise until recently that there was a list), so I imagine I have basically no chance of getting one from the new batch that Toyota just announced, but I'm going to dream I get one anyway. I have 2 quick questions:
1) For anyone who's quite recently been offered the chance to buy, how long ago did you join the waiting list?
2) In the unlikely event I get the call (email) asking for a deposit, do we have to choose our colour straight away, or do you have some time to decide? I'd like the Electric/Neptune Blue, but I see it's not available this time around, so I have no idea what I'd go for.

They are pretty flexible re colour selection and from reading on here you can change your mind very close to delivery.

It's a shame we have absolutely no idea how long the list is, or how many cars will be available. I'm half excited at the thought of getting one, whilst also aware that I might not ever be able to.

The prices should soften a bit, now there is more supply.
Thanks, but paying over retail for a used car isn't for me. I actually don't mind the wait itself, it's more the not knowing whether they'll ever supply one (ie, will they get another batch next year or will they stop etc). Also, if I miss this batch (and I think I will), will next year's lot go up in price another 10%? First world problem, but a problem none the less

Yes that’s my understanding. None will be able to be registered after 31/12/2023. So I imagine last batch will leave factory late Q3 to have enough time to be received and registered. I assume if any are not allocated to a customer they’ll have to be pre-reg by the dealer?
Ties in with the ex demo cars being available for sale from 2024.

They could register new vehicles up to July 2024, as that's when the new regulations take effect, but it seems they've made the decision not to register any after the end of 2023.

This could also be a decision driven by other factors not just safety regs. The biggest likely culprit being mix of emissions across their sold/registered vehicles.
Either way it seems likely any possible additional deliveries (over and above any reallocated cancellations) will be modest in volume given the time frame they’re working to.
