GR86 GR86 Delivery Tracking and Collection thread

Good news if you ordered a white GR86 and it's showing as being at Cheltenham, they PDI'd your car ready for today, not my silver one.

It's got the wrong number plates on it (they're mine but with a typo so still wrong) but other than that it looked great!View attachment 12383

Pretty annoyed right now...

Just catching up with the thread. That might be mine then, I was told it was at the dealer and i could pick it up in the next 48 hours last week - but have opted to get it in March on a 23 plate, as I'm feeling the pinch post Christmas and have a convertible to sell... They said they would be keeping it at the depot until i want it, but nice to see it regardless I guess (if it is mine).

The dealership is very apologetic and trying to rectify quickly, but it's still not exactly enjoyable and joyous - I'd hoped pickup day would be very different to this reality.

Currently messaging work colleagues to rearrange/apologise for meetings I can't now make, and letting the PPF folks know I'll be dropping the car off late. Best laid plans and all that.....

Where are you getting the PPF done?

Same thing happened with me - no confirmation of 3 day insurance was shown online for me - only an exhorbitant quote.. I informed Toyota online of the same, after which they manually pulled up my 3 day insurance cover confirmation, which they said they otherwise couldn't see in the system.

Ah, thanks that's helpful. I think I will get in touch with Toyota then - was planning to leave it. Cheers!

They did me a deal of £300 down from £600 as thats the most I said Id pay. in the end free as there were still the sticky lines from the plastic protection which to be fair to the valet guy you couldnt really see under artifical light but very clear in daylight.
Still i'll be going over it with my own stuff at the weekend and making sure nothing is missed

Thanks for confirming - I'll probably be getting a 1st stage polish/ceramic coat on mine, so was intrigued to see how much Toyota's version costs - mainly for the interior cover.

If your main interest is the interior cover, I’d suggest having a look around at detailing websites for interior protectants. I’ve used Gtechniq i1 (Smart Fabric) in the past, with great results, and have ordered some more to get my interior protected.
Generally, they’re just spray on and leave kind of products and are significantly cheaper (and better) than any dealer available options.

If your main interest is the interior cover, I’d suggest having a look around at detailing websites for interior protectants. I’ve used Gtechniq i1 (Smart Fabric) in the past, with great results, and have ordered some more to get my interior protected.

Cool, I didn't even know Gtechniq did interior products. Seems like a cheaper solution for the interior! Appreciate the heads-up.

Just had a call from Toyota online. My car which was due in July due to me changing the Colour is now due February.
My T has gone from Processing order to in -transit Derby ! maybe a cancelled order?
I have told them I don't want it before 1st March, they are ok with that.
Need to think about selling the MX5 now!

Just had a call from Toyota online. My car which was due in July due to me changing the Colour is now due February.

What colour did you change to? I’m hoping for a call like that. I changed to silver and also been given a provisional July delivery date

I have been reading posts since las Apr when I made my order.
I had some very strange calls from Toyota online recently.
Last week a guy called me and told me my order's ETA is June this year.
And today same guy called me again and told me my order is ready for collection "next week".
This sounds very very strange. I checked my toyota online portal, my order was in processing status.
I checked it after I received the call it is now in transit status.

I understand usually status should be processing>in production>left factory etc.
So I told Toyota online I want my GR-86, not a car tried and cancelled by others.
And suggestions ?

If the VIN number is the same it’s your car , just because someone cancelled doesn’t mean anyone has driven it , just ask them to confirm the status , if someone had taken delivery, cancelled, handed it back , it would be registered and they couldn’t sell it as a “new car”

Congrats - Toyota have a tendency to shift potential delivery dates. I remember my GRY order was brought forward 6 months unexpectedly due to a cancelled order - certainly nice to be getting it early, but created added stress of selling the current car before I wanted to!

Need to think about selling the MX5 now!

Is the FL5 no longer on the cards for you?

As I mentioned above, do not expect the order process to follow a strict order when it comes to Toyota Online. It can, and probably will, be be quite haphazard. A number of orders over the last number of weeks have been brought forward with earlier than expected collection dates. It sounds like it is the same for you.

As @AndyRC mentions, if it's already registered it won't be a new car. The car will only be registered by Toyota once you have paid for the car and gone through the appropriate handover.

Then even threatened me by saying "we may put you to the back of que if you do not take this car". I am sure surprised by this selfish attitude!! Now I am thinking I may cancel my order. It's not been the easiest ordering/delivery/collection process for many of us. Lots of us can empathise with your frustrations

I can only add (if it's any help at all) that the car is great, and (for me at least) has made the whole process worthwhile.

I dont understand your issue at all? It's a brand new car, not one that has been driven. This sounds ridiculous (that's to you, not Toyota). Be grateful that your car is here.

I mean, there's no cure for stupid. Cancel it.
