GR86 GR86 Delivery Tracking and Collection thread

Collected today , very smooth handover and went straight to Portsmouth.

The car is really quiet and not used to it ( my ex was a decat GT86).

Tried not Rev the car above 4000rpm until 1000miles done.

Called Toyota online after collection - asked for the parking sensor to be retrofitted and they had promised to do it at my designated dealer FOC.

Good to hear Toyota will still add the sensors after collection. I wonder if there is a grace period where you can still get them installed FOC if you later think you need them...
 
I Picked mine up today. I'm really please with it. I didn't get a bamboo key box or a cuddly toy... and only 1/4 of a tank of fuel. I've had the parking sensors fitted (FOC) and it was definitely the right decision. I only drove 50 miles, went to park on my drive but couldn't see very well using the camera as it was all dirty. The sensors gave that extra bit of confidence that i wasn't going to hit anything. My first impressions driving it... It's an excellent upgrade from my GT86, the extra power is very noticeable even when trying to keep it under 4000rpm. I was impressed with the ride, i thought it was better than on my GT86. I also thought the breaks performed better than on my GT86. I really like the lane assist lights on the mirrors, a great help for any blind spots. The sills make it more difficult to get in/out of than the GT86.

For anyone interested... the car had 6 miles on the clock when i picked it up.

Congratulations on collecting your car @JonBon ; great write-up too. Makes the waiting all worthwhile - bet you were glad to keep the faith...

Offers and gestures tend not to be open ended, for the obvious good business reasons.

I wouldn’t work to the assumption that if offered the sensors, you can say no, and change your mind 3 months later.

I asked Toyota Online this question and they said it's now or never.

Fair enough, will need to make a decision sooner rather than later then! Keep going back and forth...
 
FYI - looks like the sensors have about a month lead time. So if your car is on the way get them ordered sooner rather than later.
 
Am I right in thinking they don’t even plug into the OEM wiring or work with the display - just aftermarket with a beeper under the passenger seat?
 
Finally collected mine today and had a short three mile drive back home with some twisty roads in the mix.
Absolutely loved it!! I was inadvertently smiling at times :)
Now thinking hard where can I sneak it to tomorrow during my wfh ;)

Loved the Magnetite color too.. I was starting to develop some reservations while looking at eye catching elctric blues and reds here, but Magnetite didn't disappoint at all.. Has a strong understated sports car vibe to it.

Car is due rear spoiler fitting and then Gtechniq Ultra coating over the next couple of weeks!

Thanks all for the great advice and pointers all through the journey. Gr-Zoo made the whole experience that much more engaging and worthwhile, and as a bonus helped me save a few quid as well :)

Received a call from Toyota online today. I was a 10:28 order but changed from Pearl White to Magnetite Grey In December. The last call I had said August and today was informed that it would be July.

They said that they would try and bring it forward again if possible. Delighted with July and any sooner than that would be a bonus. It does suggest they are trying to clear the original orders asap for an additional allocation.
 
Did anyone get Toyota Protect (ceramic coating), including from a third party detailer?
Or can this be skipped saving 350 quid?
I'm unlikely to wash the car often. Red.
