GR86 GR86 Delivery Tracking and Collection thread

I got the email from online:
I hope you are excited to take delivery of your Toyota GR86.

I can confirm that your vehicle is now fully taxed, registered and cleared for handover.

Your collection appointment is with ........., today 9th December at 4pm.

A copy of your drive home insurance certificate will be sent to your inbox separately.

Can you please ensure you bring your driving licence with you as will need to check this before the handover can be completed.

Yet my registration isn't recognised yet so I can't insure it - not that I need it insured.

I'm not actually "getting" it today after chatting to my contact but going to go and get my bamboo and Ishoo tomorrow. Even tomorrow it'll not be coming home with me as the PPF place is chock-a-block and cant get it done until the new year. Waited this long and the roads around here are filthy through farm / quarry traffic so I don't really mind.
 
Transporters off to Kent and Hampshire today then. Does anyone from the North West/North East fancy doing a "just stop oil" type protest to block the roads south of Burnaston until they agree to deliver some cars north of Leeds? :(

Nowt, I did ask about when or if they’re expecting others but they just said mine’s the first. Kamil who was the contact has left, and the service is still somewhat lacking.

If you want the car registered after 1st, well the 2nd is a bank holiday, so you’d likely be able to ask a dealer to register it on 3rd (Wednesday).

That is subject to dealer performance and the DVLA system performance- both of which are variables.

likely given the BH and NYE stuff you’d have to pay for the car in the working days period between Xmas and NYE.

On a side note, do you read your posts? If you did you might see that your last reply was a tad sharp, almost blunt- and when people are trying to give help, that really isn’t called for.

I understand and appreciate your frustration @KobayashiMaru86 .

I'm seeing my fellow local dealership buyers collect their cars and I reckon I'll be the last. I was informed by phone at the start of this week that my car would arrive over the next "couple of days"; and here we are at the end of the week and of course - it hasn't!

We'll be the fashionably late ones.

Let's think of it like a wedding buffet. Everyone's rushing up and queueing and getting all excited coming back with their plates; we'll just sit here sipping champagne and eyeing up the bridesmaids (adjust according to sexual orientation) before strolling up to the buffet just as the freshly-cooked replacement plates are coming out to hoover up the f**king lot.

Or perhaps those of us waiting, watching all this initial delivery/collection excitement can reflect on this old joke:

A young bull and an older bull are at the top of a hill. There are hundreds of (let's say around four hundred) cows grazing below. The young bull says, "Let's run down there and f**k a cow!"

Went though moneysupermarket so a direct policy can’t speak to a human being etc ! Have house insurance with them

Bad news if you're getting your car from one of the smaller dealerships... "Whilst we are not directly involved in logistics here at the Buy Online team, I am aware that GR86 deliveries are not being carried out on one transporter making multiple drops. Rather, a selection of various Toyota models will all be delivered when they are ready". So that confirms you have to wait until there is a transporter full of cars going to your dealer before you'll get your GR86. I guess that means I won't be getting a car anytime soon, I doubt my dealer will have 8-9 shopping trollies due for delivery before Christmas.

Had a feeling this would be the case unfortunately. On the one hand, my dealer is in the capital city of the country I live in. On the other hand, that country is Wales AND it’s nearly Christmas where bugger all people buy cars.

I had that feeling too but that's a joke if true. They delivered one to West Wales but can't to Swansea or Cardiff. It's really not on and by that logic, I won't see it until next March
 
Had to pop into my dealer to see my car, won't collect until Tuesday.
It is dirty that's for sure.

Yeah, they delivered a car 12 miles away from my dealer, I asked could they not have put my car on the same transporter and they said there are no multi-drops. I asked about changing the nominated dealer to one that gets more frequent deliveries and they said that wouldn't speed things up as my car hasn't even had the initial PDI done yet. Completely deflated now and I don't think I have the energy for several more weeks of this crap. I'll speak to the dealer tomorrow and see if they have any idea when they will be getting a transporter, if the answer is (as I expect) "dunno mate" then it'll be time to move on I think!
 
Holding off on ordering any more parts or bits as there's still no ETA. Few things from Japan I'll be ordering but not yet. I'll still have it, even if by then all the joy would've been sucked out of it.
