GR86 GR86 Delivery Tracking and Collection thread

Had a quick chat with TUK, car is definitely not in the first batch but should be in batch 2 or 3 which are both due before Christmas. Should have more concrete information next week. Gives me time to Cazoo my current car at least!

Also if anyone was wondering, you can’t roll the cost of the Duckbill into the finance as it changes the WLTP rating so must be done separately.

Same situation here, but just happy to get an update call

Interesting so I maybe same too. But I did have an email saying I'd be in the first batch so we'll see. If it turns up next week I then won't need test drive.

How? Did they call you, or send an e-mail or something?
They phoned me yesterday to say they/d send request for payment.
By midday today, I'd had nothing, so I sent a quick email - almost immediately they sent me the official email aksing for payment.
It just tells you to go onto the toyota.co.uk site, where there's an option to pay and it tells you the account number/sort code/reference/amount to pay, so I did that.

Only complication for me, was Monzo wouldn't let me pay it all in one go as it would breach my £10k per day transfer limit. But I just had to send them a request to up the limit for the day, which involved taking a video to prove my ID and state what I was trying to purchase, and that was approved within a few minutes.

Received a call from Toyota online this morning after I emailed for an update. I am a 10.07 order whos car has been in the uk since June.

I was told my car has now moved to a vague mid December delivery having slipped from batch 1.1 to now batch 1.x, with all batch 1. cars aiming to be delivered in December. Hearing mid December now has me thinking I won’t have the car until January given Christmas and pdi delays etc.

Toyota rep could give no further information as to what mid December actually means, only that they’ve elected to stagger the first batch deliveries so as not to overwhelm dealers.

I’d be lying if I said this hadn’t angered me as I was getting set for an early December delivery and this now slipped…. Again.

Also there’s an issue with insuring me for the three days so that’s another call to try and sort out.

Rant over, first world issue compared to some on this forum, let alone actual issues in the world.
True, but I do sympathise. It's galling to know that your car has been in the country for months, and the only thing stopping you having it is inefficiency on TUKs part.

I like having a 'G' plate, having lived in Kent and Sussex for so long. That said, I've put a private plate on it with my initials, so it'll start with 'S'. I'd be inexplicably miffed if I hadn't put a plate on and it came with a 'W'. I have no idea why
Yeah, it would be nice to have the plate matching the county it's in....but I'm sure I'll get over it :D

If this is an issue for anyone else then Toyota will accept multiple payments, just make sure your ORCA reference is on each transaction.

Ha ha don’t get carried away my car left the factory last June and I still have no delivery date : )
Now, now you’re getting impatient. You’ll have yours in few weeks time😜.
On initial Toyota phone call I was told early 2023. So far everything is on track, no reason to get excited🥶on this long road into GR ownership 😅

In a slight state of shock at the moment, 10.28 order & yesterday myT was still sat at order processing as it has been forever, but checked today & in the space of 24 hours the car is now in the UK & is on it's way to Burnaston, I can only guess it's a cancelled order?🤔

So, two things happened today! Firstly, I managed to finally see the mythical GR86 in the metal and thankfully I fit! I was concerned at 6ft2” having had issues with headroom in my MX5’s that it might be a concern , but all good (y)

This was down at Mackin Toyota in Hamilton who aren't my designated dealer (Macklin Glasgow) as Hamilton only opened 4 weeks ago. They had the 86 in the Pearl White I ordered so asked if we could see it and sit in it. I've still to have my actual test drive with the Glasgow which should be happening next week at some point.

I then received an update on my app to say that my car has left the factory! 🥳 What's anyones best/wild guess as to when I can expect to see it arriving at my dealer? I checked the website code on MyT but from what I can see the status is still pending.

Just made my full payment :)
Did you advise them that you will want to test drive the car first by email or were you happy to take the delivery of the car without it?

We're the same order time and spec but I only received the insurance email 2 days ago and Toyota hasn't responded to my enquiries about whether waiting on test drives would affect deliveries, so I'm not sure if they're waiting for anything from me to be honest.

I asked them a similar question of paying after seeing the car. Their response to me was:

"Regarding viewing the vehicle before making payment, if you would prefer to do this that is fine however, please bear in mind, this could potentially delay handover as we usually request the final deposit around 1/2 weeks before the vehicle is due to land at the centre to ensure minimal delays. "

Had my call and request for payment emails today, plus a gentle nudge towards the accessories page of the Toyota website. Should be first week of December, which is jolly exciting! Also told me the reg, which doesn’t quite match my initials despite their best attempt - which I’m fine with, I don’t mind a little anonymity!

Nah, not bothered really. I was happy with the GT86 so I'm sure I'll like the GR. I know my dealer has a demo cad but I've not even been bothered about chasing them for a test drive. I might ring up and see if I can get a go in it, but now it seems my own cars arrival is imminent, I'm even less bothered.

So now I've recovered from the shock that in the space of 24 hours I've gone from order processing to the car is now on it's way to Burnaston!
I have a decision to make, I'm sure like many my circumstances have changed since ordering, back in April I had a company car but I've now changed jobs & I'm office based so the company car has gone & as I wasn't expecting to see the GR for ages I bought myself a Jaguar XE to get around & I really like it so I need to decide which one I'm going to keep! The XE does it all so it would be my only car but if I keep the GR I will need a shed for commuting , not sure I can justify spending 30k on a car and then mostly driving round in a shed🤨
