Not necessarily. There could just be an issue with the first batch of cars, that something needs sorting that doesn't affect the later cars. I know it's a tough one as I had a long wait for my Yaris and the first batch were stuck at Burnaston for what seemed like ages when you're waiting.

It was originally July / August, I was hoping that October was a mistake on the website hack thingy. It makes you wonder what they're doing to the cars that takes 3+ months from arrival in the UK. Shipping new parts, I'd assume.
 
There’s definitely been a lack of cars going into build, there was a couple a day a few weeks ago. Honestly can’t remember the last post of someone’s car progressing past processing.

Which probably means they are still waiting on the new components to fix the issue. Those new parts will also need to be shipped to U.K. to fix cars already here hence end of Oct earliest. Email doesn’t sound totally confident about end of Oct any slippage first cars on the road early 23 ? Must be something pretty serious that needs re engineering and testing. Are we sure it is just right hand drive.? Working on this basis production won’t start again till Sept ?

I’m just hoping the changes aren’t more safety systems. The fact they designed a GPF and have it in technical diagrams surely means they planned for European cars to be fitted with such systems? It’s all guesswork until Toyota actually tell us what’s going on though.

Update from Toyota: first group of "early bird" cars (~20) being held to align to europe wide release. Estimate with us in 2-3 weeks.

He said this was normal for early cars, and when deliveries start the rest should not experiance this, but of course there is a queue with all the other Toyota's.

Early orders can request to go on the later reg plate if they like.

Mine's been in Derby since 14/6

Had a call with the always lovely people at Toyota Online last week and they confirmed what @PVGR said above.

They didn't seem to have much information themselves, but they told me there was no recall issue or problems with the car. Vehicles are instead being held so they can have more of a bulk launch then having them 'trickle out' to people one by one.

Discussing the chat on forums like this, the support guy said they had learnt a lot from this launch, particularly as to just how much nonsense/ rumours people come up with.

Now is the above true, is it covering for some kind of issue as previous posts have indicated? Who knows. But on the phone they saw no reason why my car, in derby since 5/7, wouldn't be with my dealer within a couple of weeks. It will then take the dealer approx 5 days to do whatever they have to do to it.

Hopefully this puts some minds at ease.

Maybe teh non-UK-cars have an issue and UK-cars are hold back... ?

So why can't Toyota just send out an email stating an actual UK launch date and say that the first customer cars will start being delivered from then? Surely if that's what they are wanting, they'd have known this already..?

Throwing a launch event for cars that you can't actually buy anymore seems a little odd. I get the whole GR branding stuff but at this point, it just seems like they have one guy chasing chickens in an open field, trying to get them to perform a syncronised dance routine and no one is really checking in on him.

Great to have some positive news, thanks for the update.
It doesn't really explain why other cars that are in the country are delayed until late October, like mine? Very odd.
Hopefully once the first cars are delivered it will open the floodgates!
