GR86 GR86 Delivery Tracking and Collection thread

My dealer is rubbish, he told me that they can't see anything in their system because I ordered online despite MyT showing my car already in the UK, talk about someone not caring. I wonder if I can change dealers now
I spoke to Toyota Online as my dealer couldn't "see" my order. Turns out I'd given a different dealer when I raised the order. Switch over was painless and done in a day and the dealer now has access to my order.

and that only Toyota Online themselves have access to the 'real' delivery date (

After reading this I contacted Toyota Online, given the dealer said my car would be here next week: ""We are sorry for the delay in delivering your vehicle. We are still finalising the vehicle's introduction for the European markets. We apologise for the delay in delivering your car within the timing that was initially suggested. We kindly ask you to wait until we can tell you the estimated date for your vehicle delivery."

So Toyota Online don't know either! I wonder what "finalising the vehicle's introduction for the European markets" means.

Had a very unprofessional experience with them unfortunately, otherwise they would've been my go to.
Hmm, I’ve had some struggle myself. Considered switching to Coventry but seeing how they were at the MR2 day recently convinced me otherwise!

I've been dealing with Milton Keynes Toyota, who I have to say have been absolutely rubbish.
It's been bad enough that I was thinking of changing the dealer, but it sounds like other local possibilities (Bedford/Northampton) might be a case of frying pan to fire...

Is it any wonder the dealers have been less than enthusiastic though given they are not really true dealers for the GR86, just end collection points.
I bet they are being paid a fixed fee for this, nowhere near the commission levels of a traditional sale.
Having said that, by treating the customers in a slapdash way doesn’t inspire them to revisit for servicing etc.
Ahem

I agree.
But, saying that, I was the easiest customer imaginable for them, and the only time I have bothered them at all was trying to get my original £1,000 deposit back. I think Toyota and their Dealers need to work many of these 'kinks' out as they inevitably move to a more online sales model.
And the servicing issue is pertinent. The way I have been treated, through absolutely no fault of my own, does not make me want to go back there for servicing one iota. Which is a madness, really. If the Dealer is upset with the way Toyota have treated them, they should sort that out in direct discussion and not make the customer feel unwanted.
Rant over!!!
And breathe...

I don’t want to derail the thread but I’d go so far as to say that I wish Toyota had cut out the dealer network entirely and delivered straight to my door. And this stems from before the ‘it’s online only’ announcement.

It’s incredibly short-sighted of any dealer to neglect a GR86 buyer who needs servicing and wants to buy additional parts, plus has a partner who they know is looking for a new car. And besides, they represent the Toyota brand at the end of the day. The ‘it’s not making them any money’ defence is both incorrect and inexcusable.

As it stands, I’ll be getting a free tank of V-Power out of it, and the chap I’m now dealing with has been very attentive so far. Probably because my complaint resulted in a serious ear bashing for the previous guy I was dealing with!

Thread back on track…

I already shared that a week back, it’s to do with getting the onboard computer / camera to correctly read speed signs etc.

That is insane that this feature hasnt yet been adapted for the UK. Due to the ride-height difference they probably cant port over the software from another Toyota that already has this feature. I work on this kind of stuff, and its incredible how many nuances there are to get a camera to read a sign correctly.

Only the autos will have a camera, nothing on the manual I believe and very happy about that.

Don't think even the autos read signs
I thought this too.

I managed to order at around 10:10 and believe many others are now saying the app is showing that the car has been built and is awaiting delivery but mine still shows processing (with a 7 digit order number which is different to website order number?) so i’m just wondering if there is something wrong with the app possibly looking at the wrong order number. The strange thing is when I log onto the website I have 2 orders, one with proper order number , the other says processing..

I just called my Preston dealer and he basically said what every other dealer has said here, that they have no info at all and will only get an update from Toyota once everything has been finalised and the car is on its way to them. Although he did say that i should only have one order which is why i'm a little nervous but i did get the call a while back so everything should be on track, i just have no idea what status my order is at currently. I have emailed from original order email to see if i get an update from Toyota directly.. Watch this space..

Don't worry, there's a few of us in the same boat. My confirmation was 10.04, the car has been in the app since 12/05 as "Processing", despite watching others with later confirmations already seeing their cars "In Build". A bit disheartening, but just have to be patient.

Hello to a fellow Prestonese!

There is usually a lag between build and showing up in the app. It's only really confirmed there as built when it's been put onto a ship. The app will show a ship icon in red once it's been onboarded. Prior to that it will just show as processing.

Separately, I read on another forum that European cars are still being held at dealers until an undisclosed issue is resolved. Anyone know anything about this?

Same here as a 10:07. Emailed Toyota in the week asking about something else but said to wait until app updates. I'm off for 2 weeks from next week so would be a nice surprise if I get a call to say it's turned up but I'm not hopeful.

Hello there 👋

I think it was to do with sign recognition but don't quote me on that.. or perhaps the engine issue?
