The PDI is done at the Toyota factory at Derby, so the dealer just puts on the number plates and cleans it (if you want it scratched).

So, I've got a first world problem.

Having been offered the chance to order a car, I did so with a projected delivery date of October.

Toyota have now come back saying first week of August. I assume a canceled order has shuffled the queue.

For a variety of reasons (holiday, family issues, work commitments) October suited me fine. August does not.

Does anyone else have an order in for a Sapphire Manual which they would like to swap to August?

I'll see if I can get Toyota to make the change.

Mine too, assume yours was also on Goodwood vessel which docked yesterday?

Ive also had a call from dealership to say the car is due to be with them around 20th August and confirmed it won’t be registered until September so will be on a 73 plate, getting exciting now..

If the answer doesn’t suit then you can go down the swap with another customer route

Parking is a shitshow at the dealer and I'd rather not have it sitting about there. Currently looking at alternate dealers, holding it in Derby etc.

From what I've seen, the paint is paper thin. It's better to save the money now and repaint in the future if it's a keeper.

I read that it's not especially thin, but it's soft. How much are you thinking a full respray would be?

I've got ceramic on a few cars and I'm just not convinced it's any better than a good quality wax and sealant applied regularly (I could top it up with a ceramic spray).

PPF obviously provides a physical barrier but the cost to do an effective area would cover a fair chunk of the cost of paint.

I haven't had a quote on a respray, but a friend recently got a similar size car done for about £3500 and I got quoted more than that for a full PPF. Just a front PPF will be north of £1500. I'll just get paint insurance and see how it's looking in a few years.

I’m just going to apply Autoglym Ceracote myself.. I’ve used Lifeshine a few times and instead of paying extortionate dealer prices you can pick up a Ceracote kit on eBay for around £40

Yep a full respray by a good body shop would probably be £3500-4000 as you say.

Painting is very variable, you can have a cheap job for less, but a proper job use around that.

XPEL PPF is guaranteed for 10 years.

It's approx £1200 for the front end. Bumper, bonnet, front wings and mirrors.

I'd recommend one of the Gtechniq or Gyeon coatings, similar price, but last longer as they have a higher silica content.

I've got crystal serum on a couple of my cars and I have to say I wouldn't do it again. I have had bird shit burn through it in under six hours.
