GR86 GR86- Cars for sale - General Discussion

You have to go with your heart unfortunately.
I’m fortunate to have my GR as a weekend car so it’s going nowhere currently even with petrol prices as they are.
Tbh I’m not interested in ay EV at the moment either.
I drive a Corolla hybrid daily annd happy with my fuel usage as it is. All my cars are paid off and have absolutely no interest getting into any debt for another car in this current financial climate.
Most EV are boring SUV shaped too so I have no interest in that sh*t either.
This is sorta my dilemma and my GR was a weekend car but honestly, its just not getting used like I thought it would. Its pretty much paid off so monthlies are negligible but there's so much equity in it plus we would quite like a new bathroom 🤦‍♂️. I have a Defender 90 I use more than theGR as its a bit more practical for weekend duties.

So yeah - if anyone has sold recently and who to let me know and rough prices they achieved. (8500 miles, 72 plate, Magnetite with Ducktail) I may still change my mind however.

Honestly it’s a head/heart thing, but I seem to be finding reasons not to take the GR and take the wife’s Countryman JCW. The deals on the 3 seem really good I drove one yesterday it’s silly fast and comfy and practical and looking very cheap to run.

But in the same breath I do love the 86 and feel I may regret down the road.
I'm thankfully in a situation where the model 3 is a company car. The way to do it is to have an older model 3 as a company car then the tax contribution is, ahem.. err, less than 15 quid a month. 🫣 I feel completely guilty free about having 2 cars from a financial perspective. Newer ones dont have quite so cushy deals. I guess I got something good out of the rediculous EV subsidies that were around for a while.

I always had work vans before the tesla so I've never really dalied my own vehicle. It certainly allows you to dismiss any shortcomings a more focused car may have in terms of comfort, and makes the drives out even more special.

If our 86 values hold well, could potentially be relatively cheap motoring if sold later on, EV prices seem to be dropping significantly.
Yeah see this is the heart part of the dilemma!

Tesla would be a lease - 12 months down and £408 a month over 36 months. Works out about £549/month. However taking fuel savings, car tax, and servicing works out about £350/month which I honestly don’t think is too bad.

But then I won’t get the chance for a GR86 again which is the issue I’m having at the moment.

I’m pretty sure they will have pretty good depreciation. Anyone who knows proper driving know they are a superb drivers car.
As the GR86 doesn’t have all the lane assist and speed limit cr*p on it and is also RWD and manual they will be quite sought after in the future. That’s why mine gets locked away for the winter.
Once I’m finished with it someone will hopefully look after it like I have and it can be enjoyed for the future.
Wish more people had done this with the UK DC2 Integras. There would be more around now and not rotboxes.

I think the pampered uk 86s will hold their value, average milage dailies will depreciate at a normal rate, especially with the rise in import options

They'd probably still do well, on auto trader only 35 available at the moment, and even as we go into winter the cheapest GR86 is still £25k with daily miles of nearly 30,000 miles. Will be interested to see how prices go when it gets cold dark and wet. £5k depreciation for 3 years motoring isn't bad, don't EV's drop to 40% or something ridiculous in the 1st year.

Sorry, going off topic here.

Problem with EVs is they are still in the early stages. The tech is evolving everyday so the older cars are pretty much mules for the tech.
I have zero interest in them currently as I think there will be a big leap soon in the weight of these batteries. I’m certainly not driving around in some mundane looking 2.5 ton SUV.
The only car I like currently is the R5/ Alpine A290 but the range is cr@p. Once again, this is due to the platform not being big enough to take the batteries.

Back on topic lol

I do think more about how it's a lot of money tied up in one vehicle, especially when I'll need to replace the Swift soon. But I know if I sell it, then it will cost a lot more to get something comparable or better so it stays. Even if once it's serviced and MOT'd again end of November, it won't move until March/April again.

Same here. Mine is serviced at the end of October and won’t come out until March at the earliest.
