A while back, when I was waiting for my car and had little else to do, I started to try and document the differences between GR Yaris versions in various markets. It got complex, quickly, then I got bored ;)

Prompted by this thread though, maybe we could crowd source a complete list so the community has an authoritative resource?

Edit: didn't realise the forum software would embed the sheet. That's great, but it doesn't link through. Here is a link to the sheet proper.

Rather than throwing it open to the big, bad internet and potentially having it borked by nefarious actors, it's open for commenting only so leave updates/amendments on versions in your market as comments, or as replies in this thread, and I'll fold them into the sheet from time to time.

There are no doubt a lot of versions that aren't included here e.g. I've assumed that EU-spec models are all the same, no idea if that's true or not, but we can add as many markets and variants as we need.

I think this is worth doing as on the MLR there were always people looking for spec or part details for specific models, versions and production years, and myself and many others spent a long time collating info on random Japanese websites, particularly for the early cars which were rarely exported outside Japan until the late 1990s.

The GR will have a long life as a cult performance car and now, while production and sales are still ongoing, is the best time to get this kind of thing compiled.

Does the GR Yaris RS count towards this list?

As in the one that looks physically identical to a GR Yaris, but has the CVT?

I mean, I know it doesn't have GR-Four or the G16E but ... technically it is a GR Yaris.

That’s the RC, I believe?

Nah, the RC is the light-er weight one...

RZ the full fat car
RC is the competition focused, lightweight one (I think that's the one without the multimedia centre)
RS is the CVT, no GR-Four badge on the back

There is also the RS Light Package (BBS Wheels, Dunlops)

Doesn't seem to have the wrap either on the roof.

From memory also the very very first GR Yaris RZ's didn't have the carbon roof wrap, and they were signed by Morizo

Great, thanks. As I suspected, some of my info is miles out!

Will update and include a few more columns for engine, gearbox, power etc.

Heh, occasionally I know something useful

Does your sheet have colour choices on it too? The GRMN is the only one available in grey iirc, and there are three variants of the GRMN Yaris, the Circuit and the Rally packages, along with a 'standard' one (three prices 7.317m, 8.467m and 8.378m on the site below!)

You missed off the standard GRMN in your sheet. There are three variants.

To add, all the cars have Torsen LSD, except the GRMN which is a mechanical one. Some might say it's a slight diff-erence.

Also have a different clutch, gear ratios and more torques. They are officially two seaters, not four seaters too.

Convenience Pack does have reversing camera, as well as parking sensors (front and back).

Also has Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert with auto brake.

All the UK models have scuff guards on the door sills, and an interior alarm sensor.

I think as well, just a hunch on this one that the NZ and Aussie variants are identical. Both very small markets, would be strange to tailor different models.

I may have imagined it, but don’t the Australian cars have a smaller multimedia screen? Not sure about NZ though. Fairly sure it’s another of those mad spec variations where you’d think it would be cheaper to standardise them all?

Here in Sweden the car is available as a Convenience Pack (with the parking sensors, HUD and nav) and as a Circuit Pack (diffs, suspension and BBS wheels), no ‘Standard’ edition. No IC spray on either version. Heated seats and wheel come as standard here.

The French have the same setup, as far as I can tell, though they are named the ‘Premium’ and ‘Track’ packs.

In Germany, it’s just a standard car, with the High-Performance Pack option being equivalent to the circuit; no Convenience option.

I think that's just weird perspective in the photos you linked - the effects of using a wide-angle lens, perhaps. Look how the climate control thing looks different too, and that's surely even less likely to be a difference part?

Aussie spec is definitely the 7 inch screen. I’d swap in a heartbeat if it meant I had heated seats and a HUD though 😊

No the bezel is thicker on the AUS cars, so screen itself (not housing) is smaller. Odd.

Yes, it seems there are four options for infotainment screen:
  • Large housing, large screen, as fitted to all European models
  • Large housing, smaller screen, as fitted in Aus (and NZ?)
  • Smaller housing with fewer buttons and a smaller screen with different aspect ratio, as fitted in Singapore and ?
  • No screen, just a bucket for a kebab

GRMN Yaris also shares that infotainment setup for the RC (it's why it doesn't have infotainment buttons on the wheel)

There has also been a weird ’box’ in place of infotaiment screen on one GRMN. No clue what it was in detail. Looked like a old vhs slot ..
