Being a big fan of mud flaps and Rally in general I had to find something proper for a Rally-wannabee like this. The wide hips on the car are asking for rocks when driving on gravel roads, and when driving exited you can hear them smacking..
I have tried three different types of mud flaps, I'll share it here for anyone to consider according your needs:
1 - Automotive Passion - Really slim look and Carbon material, looks and works great for kind driving, non-gravel/snow/slush. They did stop some bit of spray but not at all what I had in mind. Very easy fitting in the front, easy but with drilling in the back. Drilling in the back means removing the rear wheel, fit and adjust with tape, drill, mount.
2 - Rallyflapz - Very popular as known, this is a size which actually do stop gravel and spray to a somewhat good level. Unfortunately the material is too soft for exited driving on gravel/snow/slush etc. The rear hips of the car still gets smacked. Also here very easy fitting in front, easy but with drilling in the back. Drilling in the back means removing the rear wheel, fit and adjust with tape, drill, mount.
The Flaps comes in a nice set with mounting details and Japanese Style paper-wrapping, nice!
3 - Do-it-Yourself - After a bit of research online and on-site at Rallies, seeing what the "real ones" use and how, I bought two sets of flaps from an online store that sell Rally parts, 4 mm thick, 500 mm x 300mm. Heavy and sturdy indeed..! I cut them out, drilled and mounted in the existing holes since before. I made them wider than earlier Mudflapz in order to stop the gravel etc to hit the wide butt of the car. And it does work really well!!
I had to adjust the lengths of the rear ones eventually since they were dragging on the road at points..
Super happy with the result, function and look!
