GR Yaris (Gen 2) GR Yaris Mk2 (MY2024->)

That would have been my dream too. As light as possible and without all the nonsense like heated seats, heated steering wheel, AC and so much more. Unfortunately it wasn't offered.
Maybe this would be the right car for you

Wow this is something. TGR WRT Factory build GR..! Drooled these to be ultimate variant. Reigers and nice suspension and cockpit though wont be really cheap either.. but if you can afford !

how does the euro 7 dl affect to delivery schedules, meaning is it possible to sell this car after that EURO7 is valid?
all cars registered after 1. July 2025 need to appy for that setting?
Year comes fast and as all markets seem to have set batches of quantities delivered it could be the last pull?

edit - seems to be old news as euro 7 is more or less similar to euro 6

This is quite literally the car I wanted all along!

Instead, I got an overpriced rolling gadget warehouse packed with every conceivable piece of digital garbage. It's like every time I hop in, I'm assaulted by a barrage of useless tech that makes me want to rip the steering wheel clean off.

I get it, some folks drool over the prospect of their car babysitting them with lane assist, pre-collision warnings, and a damn tablet superglued to the dash like it's some kind of tech trophy. Newsflash: I'm not part of that techno-zombie horde. I was forced into this electronic hellscape just to snag a few mechanical perks like Torsen diffs.

And for those of you salivating over heated seats, concert hall sound systems, auto-start-stop nonsense, and rev-matching gimmicks - why don't you just give up and let the car drive you? Better yet, snag a Lexus and bask in the glow of your sterile, soulless commute.

I wanted metal and muscle, not microchips and mood lighting. My beef with these infotainment setups? They age about as gracefully as a banana left in the sun. Barely 4 years in and the car's interior tech is laughably obsolete. It's like strapping a VCR to the dashboard. Without this techno-crap, a car's soul remains intact, timeless. But no, I'm stuck in a dated techno-dungeon on wheels. Progress? More like a march toward madness.

Rant over :D

I think many of those things are there due to regulations and not because they actually belong there.

In the European market, that's true, but regulations vary significantly in other parts of the world. Additionally, you'd be surprised how many people desire those features, even when they're not mandated by law. Furthermore, oversized, outdated infotainment screens are certainly not required by regulations, except in locations that mandate a rearview camera, for instance. I'm not in the UK, and what bothers me is my inability to obtain a basic circuit pack without all the additional features.

At the time of my purchase, the only option without all this nonsense - but with non-Torsen diffs - was the GRMN. However, it's exclusive to Japan. I could have purchased one, as several were imported into Thailand as grey market vehicles, but at twice the price, it wasn't justifiable.

OT to the topic but many cars are nowadays sold based on infotainment usability, features etc.
driveability has become a less of a selling point. In general I feel GR has good amount of tech. not too much, but not too little.
Wouldn't like to own a car without a/c or stereo. I used our Maritim Blau 968 "CS" as our wedding car and drove back home 500km in +30'C weather against sun - not very convenient experience especially for our dog - had to stop for swimming break every hr. If used as only a rally / driving tool, then all unneccessary weight is too much in terms of driving pleasure.

Costs will increase if you start making variants for every country even if stripping bits out.

Whilst I don’t go out hunting for the tech on long drives switching lane assist and cruise on with CarPlay providing navigation makes the miles disappear so at the cost of a few kg I’m happy to have it.

As a pure weekend car I can understand, but as a previous post of mine I think the special appeal is exactly from having a dual personality car from factory. It can pass as a daily commuter car with modern comforts and, with the right driver, it can go sideways at 100km/h in a massive rally drift. Not many cars can do both... Well the mk2 of course (back on topic ;) )

Actually, as a weekend only car, I would like it to be much rawer too, much easier to go that way with mods then the other way...

You'd've been hard pressed, I think, to buy a _new_ car in 2020 with less 'digital garbage' than the GRY.

Did Mr Toyoda run over your cat or something?

:D

For me it has the right balance. I wish they would have made it so that when you switch things of or on.....they stay that way when you get in. I find it only takes a few seconds to switch lane assist off, switch imt on and set the 4wd button. I want a/c, android auto, adaptive cruise so am happy but I did my research before buying and knew what I was getting. If I wasn't happy I wouldn't have bought it.

As far as I know, lane assist, auto stop start, and collision avoidance systems have to default to on due to EU regs. IMT could have stayed on for sure. And in theory they could have made a profile button so you only had to push one button to turn off the stuff you want off.

If the AWD mode impacts fuel economy, then that could be a reason why it defaults to normal, if that's what they passed emission tests with.

Not sure about that, particularly the lane assist piece.

I've had a number of brand new cars from Toyota as courtesy cars when taking mine in for a service.

Corolla Hybrid Hatch
Corolla Hybrid Estate
Yaris Cross Hybrid

In all three of these, Lane Assist was off by default. Making the fact I have to disable it every time in the GRY even more annoying!

To be honest, my girlfriend did laugh when she saw me pressing all the switches when I got in.

Me on the other hand doesn't really mind the switch dance, and would have been even happier if they'd included overhead switches for some of these things. Then I really can pretend I'm a pilot then 😜

Random thought though, when were those type approved? It's plausible the regulations changed between the type approval times.
