GR Yaris (Gen 2) GR Yaris Mk2 (MY2024->)

Waiting impatiently for answers to the following questions;

UK Price, Models & Spec
Ordering Process and likelihood of allocation
Whether we will see the special editions
If the forged wheels are an option, what design is standard

Once we have another country release info, hopefully that will give a few more clues.

C'mon Toyota. 🗓️
Seems something is stirring , but only refers to two specials.

Sébastien Ogier and Kalle Rovanperä special editions
DESIGNED BY CHAMPIONS
Introducing two unique specifications created by Toyota’s rally superstars. Sébastien Ogier’s Matt Stealth Grey GR Yaris features a large rear spoiler, a unique 4WD setting and cool blue details. The extrovert Kalle Rovanperä gets special graphics, a racing-inspired rear wing and a 4WD mode. Further details on the allocation process will be available from March 2024.
but says
Images are not UK specification.

Hmmmmm, look at the pics about half way down

Notice the Front <-> Rear and push for Track on the centre diff adjust... No longer normal, track and sport.

Is that different to what was reported/shown in the initial media blast we saw first week of January??

Does that now mean 50:50 is the default drive mode?

I also noticed the car at the top has the IC spray, the specials don't appear to have it.

Probably irrelevant as no doubt only available on JDM cars.

[edit] To be fair the French car does show it, but it may not be a French spec car in the photo

Seems we will all have to wait and see what finally comes.

Yeah indeed.

I remember Summer 2020 Guildford(I think it was) Toyota had a Euro spec LHD car that you could go and sit in. It was a circuit pack and had heated seats/wheel, blind spot/cross traffic etc.

For visuals The Unicorn is here in the profile picture :) 👋
I recognized it immediately from your profile, that's really great and too bad it didn't make it to the competitions.

If the MK2 was substantially different to the Mk1 in terms of design, functionality or aesthetic I could have some sympthathy for the "mk2 isn't homologation therefore isn't special" argument... but the reality is that's not the case.

Everything about the Mk2 seems to be an evolution or improvement over the Mk1, essentially what we used to see as Subaru delivered their first WRX then improved through the STi range year on year, or what Mitsubishi did with the OG Galant VR-4 which then became the Lancer Evolution, again improved year on year.

In my view the homologation specialness is being built upon, not diluted, and if Toyota are true to their word about the GRY becoming a "normal" model, then we'll probably see further evolutions over time.

For me the biggest thing on my mind is price. I hope it remains under £40k in the UK but we can only wait and see on that.
I totally get your point, your view makes sense.
Actually I'm more and more closer to put an order for the Mk2, once Toyota opens the order book.
I'm going for a White one with DAT, I guess. But still undecided on almost every thing, time will tell...

Smaller people in full harness apparently had trouble reaching all controls. The ergonomic standard that got us the, for some, too high seating position in the first place.

I guess I count as 'small' at 165cm (5' 5"). With a harness on I have no chance of reaching the buttons apart from obviously what is on the steering wheel. I also have to lift the seat a couple of pumps because otherwise I can't see over the central display. Annoyingly on the lowest seating position I can't push the clutch without slightly pushing down on the seat base. So I have to lift the seat a little to make it more horizontal if that makes sense.

On the new car, then I hope both those issues are solved because I prefer to sit as low as possible.

No chance they are going to need to incentivise this. I guess 8% would be about as good as you’ll get. Could be circa £3k interest payable in year 1. Ouch.

Banks aren’t offering much better on personal loans.

Will be refinancing my Yaris in June, the interest rates are 6.x with my bank and 7.x everywhere else.

Was offered 8.9% APR on HP to refinance in October last year - I declined.

You'll only find 0% (subsidised) rates on cars they are struggling to shift, or need to support (finance allowance) to aide sales on slower selling or competitive segments.

They won't be doing 0% again, expect 8% ish.
