GR Yaris (Gen 2) GR Yaris Mk2 (MY2024->)

This is all very... interesting? I like the body coloured spoiler and rear lights, to me the rear always seemed unfinished on Mk1.

I'm not sure the front bumper looks better, and I'm not keen at all on the dashboard but I'm sure it is better to use. Will have to see the whole package in the flesh.

I'm not sure about the drivetrain changes either. I like Track Mode being 50/50!

Hmmmmmm!

So, considering the list of minor grumbles we all had with the original, which ones are actually addressed by the Mk. 2?

We had up to three votes so that's why the percentages don't add up to 100%, before any pedants damage their keyboards trying to point that out :D

Is there a USB-C port at least? Wireless CarPlay? - If so, I wonder if the USB-C port is a direct swap into MK1.

The interior certainly seems ... functional.
It doesn't visually appeal to me at all.
Concerning the technical improvements to the drivetrain and the suspension I'm all over it though.
I do feel that a well modded MK1 is still going to be the way to go overall for me though - they've seemingly not changed anything so fundamentally that would make the MK2 a much superior platform to build on.
As a new buyer with nothing invested in a MK1 I'd go for a MK2.

Looks like there are two. One in the centre console roughly where the current one is, and one in the tray in front of the passenger, which is quite handy.

On the UK Toyota site so it's definitely coming here. It says limited allocation but after the GR86 "limited availability" shenanigans, not sure what limited means.

more expensive and long wait times?

Yeah, I would expect it to be around 20% more expensive and you'll still have to get familiar with shipping routes/timings from Nagoya ;)

Even if the original Circuit Pack price had been increased in line with inflation since late 2020, you'd still be looking at an RRP of over £40,000

Totally with you, as an MK1 owner with oil cooler, cooling mods, DTUK tuning box, polybushing all around I am only sold on the automatic (which does improve times on track, doesn't help on resale value). Is it enough to pull the trigger ? Thinking of delivery times (completely unknown) not so sure

My take on Q1:
- it will have more power (+25hp /+10Nm, EU version)
- it will weigh more (+20kg to Mk1)
- Auto box as an option (add's weight 50kg to manual, costs 5k€ extra)
- JBL stereo as a standard option
- Seating Position will be lower
- There will be some kind of new paint scheme (Dark or light blue?)
First post on this thread. Pretty much nailed it there, man.

As expected, the evo arrives even before my order from 2021 is delivered... The interior doesn't look good but is the infotainment new? Huge improvement if it supports wireless Carplay/Android Auto.

The thing is that they've solved a lot of the issues that people have had with the MK1 cars. Which means that you as a consumer can now either hop onto a MK2 or start upgrading your MK1 by looking at what Toyota has done to the car to make it better. Of course there is also the option of keeping a MK1 stock but where is the fun in that?

Aw I quite like it which is annoying. Like the better visibility especially and dash is retro cool. Final payment on my car is due mid June…hmm

Having a car that isn't on finance is a great peace of mind though, don't you think? I do get where you're coming from, I think every MK1 owner must be reevaluating their choices here, given that it's seemingly a pretty clear improvement overall.
