GR Yaris (Gen 2) GR Yaris Mk2 (MY2024->)

I get It from the dealership. As I told, Toyota Spain offers the possibility to do the service with Ravenol oil, But you have to ask for It. I don't know if Toyota do this in all countries. But anyways if you want to buy some Ravenol just go to their main Page the German one, prices are the BEST and you Will find the 0#20 DFE of course. I just did the service with them to keep the warranty, otherwise I do It myself
In my country, in Italy they don't put one with the wording gf6a but only sp, but I think I understood that the difference is only in different homologations... like VW etc... let's hope so 😂 but the gf6a should be an sp-rc... mine only sp... I'm a little worried but if they blow my engine they'll pay for it, for sure 😂😂😂

Not saying i didn’/don’t trust them but since day 1, I’ve always taken my own to be used, Ravenol DFE 0W-20.
Best of both worlds.

Do as I do. Go to your Toyota dealer to schedule your service, and ask them I want to use the Ravenol oil ( DFE or EFS) tell them Toyota Spain had that oil in their data base. They gave me the empty 4L bottle as I requested and the additional 1L bottle. For Next year i Will force them to use the DFE the one that they use in competitons. And I don't know if this make a difference But my dealership IS Gazoo Racing official and they have their own competition rally team.
I hope this can help yall

You Will never be better serve than by yourself! But by doing the service yourself, you lose warranty...

Can I ask what it is about Ravenol that makes it better than 1. what Toyota might use and 2. better than another 0W-20?

Well Ravenol is a very trusted company, with experience on high level competition. The 0#20 thing IS just the viscosity, any brand can get that. The base of the oil IS what matters and quantity of every additives they use in their oil is most of the time very superior to others. I Saw plenty of laboratory test and reviews that shows that the oil degrade less than others.

That's a great explanation . The oil is the life blood of the engine, our engines work very hard so needs a thin oil 0/20 but to keep the heart of the engine beating the oil needs quality additives that protect the moving parts and keep the oil in good condition .

I went from the mk1 to the mk2.

It not the big celebration i thought it would be!

The mk1 was so nice to slide around but the mk2 settings track or gravel does not bring the drift fun the mk1 gives.

Is it only the diff setting 47/53 gravel and track variable setting 60/40 to 30/70
Or did they change something in the hardware.

It feels that the car pulls to much on the front.

Maybe syvecs can bring a solution.

Are there more GR Yaris drivers that experience the same?

Toyota engineers tweaked the roll bars so that it now understeers more when pushing on as felt that a loose and snappy rear wasn’t what owners wanted. It mentions this in reviews of the Mk2. The aero is further revised with some tweaks to the steering as well as the obvious external stuff.

I also went from MK1 to MK2 and I'm experiencing the same thing. I can imagine why they altered the settings, probably to save the diff, however I wouldn't haven any problem to double the diff oil change to have the Sport setting of the old car. I'll try to play with alignment to help compensate the understeer.

I redrilled the rear antiroll bar when I had to remove the rear suspension for another reason. The idea is to reduce the leverage and stiffen the rear bar to improve turn-in.

Anybody any thoughts on the reduced torque (45Nm) but same power on the latest Gen2?
Toyota say for emissions ?
Could it be to protect the pistons too?

Are you saying that changing the diff/transfer case fluid helps prevent overheating?

I’ve always wondered if doing fluid changes more often could reduce overheating issues.

In my opinion it's just for the emissions. In Japan, México and more, they have the 305HP. So it's just for Misses Von der leyen 🤣
I’d expect reducing torque would increase emissions by having to increase revs due to less torque?
But then I guess it depends more on the emission test criteria?
