GR Yaris (Gen 2) GR Yaris Mk2 (MY2024->)

Can you keep us posted on the MPG/Range details? Plus what mud flaps are those? Look good! Thanks for the updates btw!
Mud flaps are MFF from Japan.

MPG I filled up with 8miles on the gauge (no fuel light on) and managed to get in 39.5 Litres so 10.5 left in the tank (normally reserve is 5L) and after todays fill up it offered me 240 miles so suspect it’s just loosening up.

I’ve replied to other thread but I think after 100 miles (mine is also away getting valeted at present) that the lane assist needs turning off on each start up. The steering wheel button doesn’t do anything to switch off it all happens in the menus I turned off steering resistance and have left the beep so I don’t need to turn it off each time.

There’s 3 dashboards you can have so I’ve setup:

Tyre pressures - gear - temperatures
Boost gauge - settings - something else
Range - map - mpg

So when I start the car I move across to screen 2. Press ok once (no long hold) and then you can select RSA and lane assist.
As far as i know, Tyre pressure screen is the only one you cant save in one of the three configs, you have to put it on manually each time, why that is i dont know, all the other info screens are fine.

At least it’s not me going mad.

Just as an update realising that it is just the corollas dash I checked the GR Corolla forum and it’s a known issue from 2 years ago!

Well this Hyundai i20N works for me! Having tried and been disappointed by both GR analogue and digital the Hyundai modes and display can be swapped around easily via large steering wheel buttons on the move.
Yes it has lap, G forces, all temps, boost, and brake pressure etc etc and on the TFT screen too if you want but all I want is revs and a gear indicator big and in my face so I don’t have to take my eyes away from where I’m going!

I have an i20n. And you can set a beep for the perfect shifting. This Car is a litle bit over the top for the 200hp. 🤣
But i personaly would take the analog over the digital bling bling.

😄 Yes, a bit OTT but does have better ergonomics, display, trim, economy, gear change and practicality and is fun to drive.
Just a pity it gets so wayward on UK bumpy roads where the GR just soaks it up.

I have both the GR and the N. The I20N was bought as an everyday car. I really can't complain, except that it is really overly hard and the workmanship here and there is really not a masterpiece. But for the money it is a top car👍🏻.

In contrast to the MK2, the speedometer doesn't look like it was the result of an accident involving a heavy goods vehicle :). But I still think analogue is better than digital👌🏻.

But each to his own and now on with the topic:).

i think the Peugeot 206 WRC has the best dash. its simple and sufficient.
sorry for OT!

Take two about my Mk2 (Fridge White, Manual): 1220 kms on the clock and first inspection and oil change made after 1100 kms.
I'm already getting along better with it, and overall I'm very satisfied with the car.

Actually still too lazy to customize the dash screens, that are exactly like they were since delivery... (shame on me! 😅)
Starting from the ADAS, then, I confirm that I'm living quite well with them, even better than it was with my Mk1.
Maybe it's my dealer who, knowing my very bad attitude with driving alerts, set the volume at the lowest possible level for all of them.
The only annoying one (loud beeping and quite a strong action on the steering) is the LDA, that unfortunately is turned on at any engine start, and I need to turn it off at any start: click on Settings, long click on LDA, and then another normal click to unselect it. Then three clicks on the esc button.

First of all, after swapping the summer tires with winter ones (on OZ Rally Racing wheels) the good news is that the cars stopped pulling slightly to the right, hope it's just tires-related then, and then it should be easily fixable.

Manual gear: The more I use it, the better is the feeling. It requires a bit stronger hand while changing, but it's very robust and firm, and I never found any resistance to shifting even under strong power or deceleration.

Brakes: this is the part I'm more perplexed about by now. The pedal requires a much stronger force on it, particularly in the initial part of braking, and much more than on my former Mk1. From what I see, all the braking power is still there, and by pushing hard on the pedal, the car stops quickly and in very short space, but I'd like to know from others who own an Mk2, or who tested it, if it's something they felt the same way as myself, or it's just my car that need some checking on them.

Steering: after some kms at the right speed on the right roads, I'm feeling much more feedback from it, and I can already appreciate a slight upgrade with respect to the already good one of the Mk1.

Ride and Handling: I confirm it's firmer than the Mk1, and I always get the impression of being lower and wider on the road. After the first kms with a bit more push, I can tell that the original spirit of the Mk1 is still there, even if a bit hidden by added layers of firmness. It sure will take more of this to have a definite idea about how much I like it, but i can already say that I'm liking its new balance quite much. In a few words, I feel it being a bit more sharp than the Mk1.
On the other side, I have to acknowledge that the Mk1 it's still the most quick-to-having-fun car I had so far.

Engine: I still need more kms to understand better how to get the best push from it, and the same thing happened to me initially even with the Mk1. For sure once I take the torque curve from the right point, the push is incredible, almost overwhelming, and way stronger than it was with the Mk1. But driving it as a Mk1 doesn't take the best out of it, because the torque curve is more evenly distributed, and I need to remind me to use more of the rpms span to get the best from it.

Fuel consumption: The ECO setting is really a great addition to the car for the relaxed trips. I got easily to 35 MPG on my highway trips at cruising speed around 130km/h (80 miles/hour), against an average of 25 MPG in my Mk1 in the same conditions.
I got an average of 20 MPG when pushing more on twisty roads in Sport mode.

Knowing myself, this would drive me up the wall.

I honestly can’t understand why new BMW M cars, Type Rs, and similar models allow these features to be permanently turned off, yet Toyota doesn’t offer the same option.

Hi guys, which tires pressure are you keeping on the MK2 original michelin Pilot?

Anyone knows how to reset "check tire pressure when safe" warning? I got it as soon as I drove off dealership. Pressure is ok and stable

It goes off on its own with the MK1 if the pressures are correct. Sure they aren't too high, it's a dealer special to over inflate.

I got them on 2.6 bar :/ I deflated to 2.3 and it was still showing. I tired deflating to 2.2 today, but havent driven car yet. Hopefully it will get removed

great summary! what I liked in mk2 is the great response from turbo in mid range. feels like boost management is improved, that affects the power pickup. in WOT and high revs its does not make maybe much difference but in slow/mid speed driving it can be easily felt.

I used launch control for the first time yesterday after running it in. I was surprised how smooth it was compared to an aggressive launch in the manual to get a good time.

Expert mode > foot on brake > pull back both pedals > countdown box appears on display, foot on accelerator > release before the box shrinks on the display.
