I won't change my dampers but would like to have a more oversteer on the back. Let's see if I can i achieve this on a standard car as well. I wouldn't have any issue to loose a bit of rear end stability at high speed as I don't often drive over 140kph.

Quite possibly. He claimed he didn’t have enough seat time to get used to the newer one. However, the auto is allegedly fastest, so I still expected a much better outcome.
A disclaimer first: I ordered the manual Mk2, so it will be a much biased opinion... 😬
My take is: the Mk2 auto is sure fun and has great outcomes for an auto car, but in the end you can find the better rhythm only with a manual gear, in a competition car like this one.
And I think that also that the saying "with the auto you can keep two hands on the steering wheel all the time" is overvalued... Look at Seb Ogier's onboard videos... On any gear change he keeps just one hand on the wheel for a few seconds, and his performances are always outstanding. 😜
In this video you can see from the progression by the driver with the Mk1 manual, the last laps are really fun with a fantastic rhythm, yielding a great time.
With the auto the progression is good, but the car looks like battling a bit with handbrake hits and with an aggressive driving style in general.
The performance is still better than the Mk1 manual, but not as like as you would expect by adding 10% more engine power.
So to summarise: the best one is the manual Mk2, period!
I'm sure you agree with me @Norbi, right? 😏

All these congrats to the auto... I understand, you have to console it for being just 0.3 ahead of the manual Mk1, for almost killing you with a spin, and for rejecting the handbrake at almost any attempt. I totally understand that, believe me.
But what I see is the perfect flow of the fastest lap by the manual Mk1, while the fastest one by the auto is more about a battle with the car, and the lap time in the end is maybe is a bit too tiny for 30hp gap. 😏

I'm a gentleman, and I will come to the race with my manual Mk2 equipped with some delaminated 175/80 R13 tires from a diesel van, just to let the auto one be competitive without scaring its driver too much... 😜

Just joking, clearly...
To say the ugly truth, the question "Is it really better the manual, or should I have taken the auto?" comes up to my mind many times every day.
In the end what keeps me happy with my choice is thinking "If both the Special Editions have the manual gear, there should be a reason for that", and the posts by @MRA3 in this thread.
I remember two posts by him about the choice auto/manual, the last one on page 76, and the first one on a previous page (can't recall the exact page number).
But I'm sure both the auto and the manual will be fantastic cars, like the Mk1 already is.

Surprised we haven't seen an auto vid where the driver shifts using the gear lever as a sequential. Especially on this very twisty circuit that would have been more beneficial then keeping tabs on where the paddles are, or trying to shift when going straight-ish, or using full auto.
I mean I kinda wonder if I want a real sequential gearbox, amazingly there seem to be at least three different offerings on the market. But the cost is up there and rebuilds would scare me off, even if they don't need to happen often with street use. So if the auto has a minor delay that doesn't hinder actual progress, maybe one wouldn't mind it too much in light of that. At the same time some piece of mind for no risk of misshifting or torn synchros etc. especially with a little more oomph. I really would like to see a reviewer to show how fast the best lever changes in sport mode (and any other beneficial settings?) are, still need to be fast enough so not to mess up the number of shifts, especially down.

Now I'm talking primarily use on track, on the road, I do think I'm all too infatuated with that incredibly archaic methodology of changing gear oneself while doing an incredibly intricate three pedal dance and trying to make it all gel and timed correctly while trying to turn that steering wheel with mostly two hands as things heat up. I mean it's completely rediculous really, we have two hand and two feet and the whole process would greatly benefit of having three each 😅:eek: 🤫....

I can see the attraction of the auto, with a lever changing up and down the correct way, and while retaining that very important handbrake (how many still have that one). If I had an auto on order, I would be investigating if there is a elegant way to extend that lever to get it closer to the steering wheel action.... And then actually a solid reason for jumping to the mk2, it costs here roughly as the cost of a sequential readily installed and mapped but less hassle and lots of other development benefits, it kinda makes sense if not stupidly bewitched with that manual and taking for granted its obvious downsides.

Does the auto kick the clutch like e.g. a PDK can do? That's one other thing I do with the manual (and imaginary sequential) sometimes which most autos practically cannot do, but not many use this possibility if driving normally (I hope).... Yeah not changing here yet but it's a bit closer then you'd think...

I got the email as I joined and stayed on the waiting list in case I didnt get a GR86 first allocation, I was fortunate enough to get the 86 and have no desire to change to a Yaris...especially at that money!!

Ive seen a few posts in this massive thread!! of MK 1 owners that sold and now want the MK 2, I will enter the ballot however it works and if successful happy to work with a fellow enthusiast to get them the car...as a note not looking to make anything out of this if successful in ballot, just help out someone that wants one.

So the auto premium is almost double of what a Circuit Pack MK1 was at launch.

Well today got to see the MK2 in the flesh while here in Japan. Dash much better in real life, seat definitely lower, hatch is much more weighted on lift with assistance up and down. Overall well cool.

Also had gander over GR Corrolla, a MK1 GRY and a GR86, all lush.
I didn't even know they already produced some to put at dealerships?

Based on the premium manual (934k NOK), the CO2 part of the total price should be 21,465.20 Euro
In total, including VAT, taxes will make up 58.8% of the total price.

It is a price without taxes cheaper than that of the countries that belong to the EU, about 6000 euros cheaper. factory price!

58,8% is very crazy.
 
With shipping that means your car should be in production in June. Not long to wait at all!
Just as anyone, those production dates are not confirmed yet. I think first scheduled production dates are in July, but who knows if that's true.

In France I got told an estimated delivery date of 5th December :( with a guarantee to receive it before the end of the year. I asked why the long wait with respect to what people in other countries are being told (e.g. August, September, October), but the dealer has no idea. I also don't see anything in MyToyota under purchases.Nevertheless, it was the same for my current GR Yaris which I ordered in May 2021 and then only received a notification that my order was in MyToyota (MyT at the time) in October 21. Then the car came in June 2022...
