I bought mine for my 60 birthday ( 2022) with the intention of it seeing me out . I still think the governing factor of buying any car is wether you have the hots for it. I test drove it and had to have it . I've always bought cars and bikes I cant afford and somehow overcome the cost . I still own machines Ive owned for twenty plus years . I just worked harder and got out of bed earlier - Tingle factor and wunderlust . Age doesn't come in to IMHO . This car is a peach - I love it and cant thank Toyota enough for it .
 
The lovely policeman that stopped me yesterday told me to "grow up". I feel it's not fair that police use unmarked cars. I was on a B road , overtook a white hybrid saloon the next car was in the middle of the road on his phone, I flashed him then managed to get by, next minute the white car I overtook turned into a flashing Christmas tree.
So unfair

I had a similar problem two weeks ago, coming home from a mid wales blast at 7pm, caught a few cars and passed them, could see a car trying to keep up , passed a few more then slowed to 40 for a village
Car behind now lit like a disco 😳
Had me on video doing 115, gave me a bollicking but also thought I wasn’t a right t**t as I obeyed the village limit so gave me a section 59 warning thingy

The reason I started my post with "lovely policeman" , he didn't give me any indication of any offence. When I overtook him, I firstly indicated then moved over to make the driver aware of my intentions before overtaking. The next car's driver was driving in the middle of the road and was looking at his phone and had no clue I was there until I flashed him. Yes I was driving quick but would never put myself at risk or other road users. The policeman obviously took this into account and just decided to give me a talking to. So on this occasion I feel it was the right outcome for all.
 
63 bought mine to replace a S2 Komotec Exige, its a more pratical and gets used loads more, unfortunatly by my wife where she only used the Exige once,
Over the B roads around us its a lot faster as well.
 
Ordered the car about on my 53rd birthday, and it showed up when I was solidly into 54... :)

My first car was a 1981 KP61 Starlet, followed by many KP Starlets, a few EP71s, and a few EP91s. I've owned AE86s, AWD BFMR Familias with north of 400hp, and even went as far as a 1,000hp+ R32 GT-R. But the small hatches were always my favorite. Then came sending three kids to uni, and so on. Went a few decades just working on other people's cars.

I was rolling around buying another KP and fixing it up, but then this car came along, I had the money to buy it, the time to drive it, and it has "hot hatch" lineage to the KP Starlet.

So here we are... I'm surprised that the age range is right where I am. I expected it would be much younger.

I think a lot of people are in my boat, where I wanted to drive something from my youth, but don't really want to carry a toolbox everywhere 😄

Nice cars you have had - Its a fine line what is good amount of wrenching. Its good to have something to fiddle with, but getting into trouble with too difficult mechanical tasks is not usually a good idea especially if wrenching the daily car (even though it happens way too often).

A lot of my long-time friends, like from high school days, have JDM classic cars. Old Z cars and Skylines from L-engine days, AE86s, RX3s and SA22 RX7s.

All they do is sit in their garages in a constant state of being worked on...drive maybe twice a year. They spend more time in the body shop every few years than they do being driven. I decided I want a car to drive. Other than adding some bits to aid in cooling incoming air for the engine, and the HKS exhaust, it's doubtful that I'll touch the engine.
 
I'm 50, got mine second (third) hand so only had to wait a week once I'd decided to splurge the cash. Treated myself to the second present to myself for the 50th, the first was a trip to Antarctica to complete the 7 continents. So with my CP GRY being a certain colour, I definitely saw a lot of white stuff last year!!
Both things worth every single penny. Car better than my previous stuff, XR2i, Type R, Audi TT, Focus ST, this one is a keeper, who wants an electric box on wheels that is the same as 35 other electric boxes on wheels, as seemingly, that's all that is now on sale??!!
