GR86 GR Paint Inspection - !Important!

Let me know how you get on applying.

I’ve used a lot of their stuff and the ceramic snow foam was really good so hoping this gives a good coating also
 
On the subject of PPF/coatings, do detailers supply courtesy cars? If not how do you get to and from the detailer as it's not a process that they can do while you wait?
 
I know some of the bigger companies do have courtesy cars and also some of them offer an enclosed trailer service.

If not, well I guess its like going anywhere else without a car you either walk, get a lift, taxi, train, etc.

So far, so good! It's nice and thick, goes on really easy and buffs off without any residue. Not sure if it's worth layering up, will look into that. Definitely enhances the gloss as well :cool:

Actually pretty happy with the paint considering how bad it looked when I picked it up (y)

That looks fab! Glad it doesn't leave residue, nothing worse than chasing marks when you think you are finished.

I know its technically a wax/sealant. Are you putting anything over the top of it?

Think that'll do on mine for now. It'll live in the garage so all depends on how it holds up after a few washes... Which I don't particularly want to do again any time soon! 🥶

Do mind me asking where? Been quoted £800 for paint decontamination, machine polish and ceramic coating with wheels off and coated in and out.

Spray on your pre-wash like Citrus Power and leave to eat the grime - sort out your pressure washer and load the snow foamer lance with the foam of your choice. Then spray on your snow foam - wait the manufacturers recommended time and simply pressure wash it all off (remembering to never approach your paintwork straight on - always about 45 deg on) and you'll have 90-95% of the crud gone.
You can leave it as that as the car will look much cleaner but if you then want to carry on, you'll be safe to use a mitt and 2 buckets as most of the swirl creating muck has been removed.

I assume that you don't dry the car after the contactless part? I still always end up doing a full 2-2.5 hour wash every time so never done a contactless only. I just imagine that while it does get 90-95% of the grime off, you will end up with endless water spots when it drys do you not?

Do you rinse off the citrus pre wash before snow foam or snow foam over the top? I know there are always so many views on the right and wrong way to do things in the detailing world but I love washing my car! Nothing better than seeing that perfect beading and popping paintwork once you are finished (even if it does only last 1 day in this weather).

No, no drying with a towel as then it wouldn't be contactless, not to mention the car isn't completely clean so you will smear crud around the paint causing swirls and scratches. If you rinse with demin water you will reduce chances of water marks, or use a blower to dry the car off. I would pressure wash off the pre wash if the car is very dirty, if its lightly coated I'd apply the foam over the top then rinse off once. Others may do it differently.

Its never going to be perfect but its good enough for winter where you car stays clean for about 45 seconds.
 
Toyota paint is notoriously poor - easily fixed though so don't pamic. Not a great time of year to collect a new car though, itl be ruined before the good weather returns

You got an absolute bargain with the Ceramic coating, if you look on the G-Techniq price configurator it should be twice that price!
