Oh once it's protected I'll be using as intended. All depends on what it's like. I'll know by tomorrow.
 
Combo of both the last 2 posts for me, can't wait for the detailer. Day off today so about to get out the pressure washer and see how much I can sort without touching it. Not used Graphene before but picked it up recently so that's going on mine too for now (y)
 
Another message from KDS this morning warning me that they'd found some mould build up around some of the glass seals, indicative of the car being sat for a while. I told them that I kind of expected it, and explained that the car had been sat in Derby since the end of the September.

Again, worth mentioning here, as I know there are several on this forum who's cars were sat there for much longer; give everything a thorough check over when it comes to washing.

I probably wouldn't bother with contactless wash and do a normal one as it won't be clean enough for clay. If you are making contact rubbing a clay bar/clay mitt over it then hand polishing, that defeats the object of the contactless wash before it, you run the risk of clay bar marring which would potentially be worse on a car that hasn't had a thorough wash.

Didn't have a photo but the front seal of the windscreen on the demo was quite green/marked. Got some 303 protectant that should sort that. Could well have been from sitting too long or aggressive tfr

What I mean by contactless is snow foams and sprays initially to dissolve any of the films and residues, then assess paint condition. Once the main residue is off (as there will be as I'm driving it home) I can snow foam again and clay using that.

Yeah I understand what you mean, each to their own but I wouldn't go over a car with a clay bar without a proper wash with shampoo and mitt. Contactless washes tend to work OK on a car that has treated paintwork with a decent LSP, it's much less effective on something which doesn't have any coatings on it, which being a new car, it won't.

It depends on what its like. Any risk of swirling I want to avoid. The citrus washes and tar and glue remover will help a lot, along with the snowfoam, then maybe a gentle wash lamb mitt before clay.

Agreed, the risk of marring or scratching the paint is quite high with just a contactless wash and a clay bar. I would do a quick contactless wash now which should get rid of most surface contaminants but won't necessarily make the car look "detailed".

I'll be aiming to do a proper diluted Meg's APC pre-wash, alloy wheels clean, rinse the car with a pressure washer, apply snow foam, rinse the car with a pressure washer again, then do an ONR wash with two buckets, iron decon, clay bar, rinse and seal with a hybrid ceramic spray. It might seem like an overkill but the car has been sat outside with no care for too long, so I'm just hoping to get good enough weather over the Christmas week.

A proper paint correction and ceramic coating application will follow in the warmer months.

That's one beautiful car. The red really pops when clean and shiny. :)

Has your detailer taken any paint measurements and how much paint correction was necessary? Also if you could share the cost of the of work carried out that would be great as reference for others.

That's stunning. There's really no bad colour for these. That's what I'd hope it to be as the films will have helped a lot.

I was in a rush and didn't get a chance to ask regarding paint measurements and how many passes. but based on what I paid for it was a since pass polishing.

In total I paid £467, for the single stage polish, gtechniq CSL+ EXO coating on the body and the wheels ceramic coated too. He got a bit carried away, went into auto pilot and ceramic coated the windows even though I didn't ask for it, got it for free which was a nice xmas surprise!
 
Got some mouldy bits but they've just washed off

...it is at least clean enough I can do the rest indoors. Washing it today was the worst idea Ive ever had and my driveway is now an icy death trap :ROFLMAO:

I was going to suggest Autoglym Fast Glass then Car Glass Polish if needed. What about something with isopropanol in? Silicone Off should work.

Isopropyl alcohol and some paper towels, just make sure to take the time when rubbing it off to avoid scratching the windscreen. It helps to defrost it first.
