Just bring out another bloated overweight pile of 💩 and use another iconic name that’s not fitting for the car. They should call it the Crapri instead.

Yep utter Electric SUV shite. Bodie, Doyle and Terry McCann would not be driving that crap. On another car being brought back, what's the opinion on the Honda Prelude Coupe concept? I quite like it. Not a lot of details regarding power other than it's a hybrid.
 
The Capri is showcased at the Festival of Speed - I had a look round it and concluded that its just another white good with a retro name :D

Unsure if it’s the colour of the model I’ve seen but to me the new Prelude has the air of a jelly mould or cheap child’s plastic toy about it.
 
At least the Prelude is a 2 door coupe, but it's got the 2.0 petrol hybrid CVT out of the Civic, which I think just acts as a generator for the electric motors?

My thoughts exactly. At least it's a coupe and hopefully something that might be worth considering in the future. The absolute saturation in the UK of boring SUVs is quite depressing.
 
I saw it at the F.O.S at the weekend. I like Toyotas but also have a soft spot for Honda and thought it looked lovely up close. The chap said it will be here in a couple of years as a 2.0L hybrid.

The comments about the Capri were fairly unanimous - looks like a standard boring electric SUV. I thought it was a largr lump of a car with nothing special about it - no striking looks. A capri was my first new car - capri calypso blue and silver in about 1982 ish. This is not a capri and the legend is not back. I think it could sell very pooly as there are many more better looking lecky cars about. I think they have completely wasted the special name on this but have Ford now stopped making sports coupe's. If the new prelude shape had a Ford oval on it then that could have had the capri name.

Regulations, production efficiency, profit margins, people's expectations, practicality, these have all killed off innovation and creativity. You look back at car design over the years and compare it to today, it's a sad state of affairs.

Prelude gets my vote, I think it looks slick and compared to the likes of the Puma and Capri it actually sticks with it's roots. Definitely not a true sports car, but could be a nice coupe for those who don't need to ferry lots of people or stuff about.
 
While at the Toyota MK2 stand I mentioned that I drive a Yaris Cross as a daily and she smiled and said Toyota are well down the road to producing a propper sports SUV like other manufacturers have and not just a sport version as in the Corolla and Yaris Cross sport. It will use the Y.C. as a starting point but include the GR performance and everything that goes with that.
That would be interesting for those who want a sporty and practical car all in one.
When I bought my Yaris Cross I bought the icon as the Y.C Sport is just a pretend GR but if it had 4 WD and the same power then that might have changed my thinking a little especially now as I have come to love the all round practicality of the small SUV. It gives me everything the GRY doesn't appart from power.

Morizo Documentary / Akio Toyoda

Something that Lexus dropped on YouTube a couple of days ago, chatting with Morizo in his Lexus LBX. To me it's a nice 7 mins of him chatting (in English) and giving an insight into what makes him tick. The LBX is a Lexus SUV, using GR Yaris running gear and his current daily driver.

Thanks for that. I have started to think about a Lexus next and am aware of the link with the Yaris Cross but didn't know about the GR link.
So Toyota won't be building a new car, just adapting the new Lexux to suite Toyota customers and its pricing range. It should happen I think.
In my early 60s so am now nearly old enough for a Lexus or Volvo:sneaky:
