Update on driving 1.5 hours today. I have to report it is NOT a placebo!

I highly recommend the oil change at 7months and 3000miles.
It seriously drives like a different car, the shifts are smoother, and I am able to rev match so much more accurately!

I don't know what Subrau puts in as stock factory break in oils, but the car now has the following distinct behaviour.

-Hill starts, and friction point engine vibration is virtually gone.
-2nd Gear cruise had a vibrating resonance that used to cause a slight annoying buzz, this is gone.
-Synchro-meshing is so smooth it feels like a new gearbox!

I really can't believe the difference it makes (never had to break in a car before). Absolutely go against the Toyota service plan and do one earlier! I can't wait to see what it feels like with LSD and Gearbox fluids changed.
This is why I won’t be changing my oil at 1k miles. The break in oil is really important and 1000 miles isn’t enough to bed in the engine properly. As one owner has already had his engine go bang and strangely changed the factory oil at 1k then I’m not taking any chances just incase there is any connection.
Just my opinion and many may not like it. 😂

I just order Millers Oils EE Performance 0w-30 from Opie Oils. had the same in 0W-20 previously, but have another track day next weekend and thought as its warmer something slightly thicker would be worth it.

Millers - NanoDrive Fully Synthetic Engine Oil With Nano Tech - CFS 0w30 NT from Fensport, but that isn't ILSAC GF-6A compliant.

At this rate I'm on my 3rd pil change at under 4,000 Miles 🤪

I've asked about this for my service and was told 5W30 in the correct spec is not available for the the dealership to order. The dealership did give me the offer of getting the oil myself but this was messy because I've got the service plan.
I asked Toyota UK and they just focus on that the manual recommends 0-W20 and refused to acknowledge that 5W30 is also suitable. Not very impressed with Toyota UK on this.

Was this through your dealer? My first service is on the 6th September so might pop in earlier to see if either a) They can do it or b) I can supply my own oil.

Surely the dealer should have oil in massive drums and wouldn't order it in?

5w30 is also pretty common. Also does anyone know if oil is available that is actually to spec?

Yes, see the posts above for 5w30 that meets the Toyota spec.

Not sure that a Toyota dealership would do that since manual only says 5W-20 can be used if standard 0W isn't available...

I'll be doing my 1,000 mile change soon and also read about many using 5W-30 but wouldn't using that risk voiding your warranty if found out?
Just back from Macklin Motors Toyota in Hamilton with the one year service carried out. I can confirm, they changed the oil to 5W-30 at my request and as in-line with Toyota's guidance. The reasoning being European and alps diving ahead for a fair few thousand miles.

Did you supply the oil or did they order it in for the service?

May try the 0w-30 instead then and try 5w-30 next time. What oils are good for the gearbox and diff? Thinking I may change them at the service too.
Any GL4 75w for the MT and GL5 75w-85 or 75w-90 for the diff will do. Just make sure you choose the right API GL spec and don't forget to replace crush washers as well. Cou can play with the viscosity based on your use case...

I changed mine at 3k miles, I used Liqui Moly Top Tec MTF 5100 75W for the MT. The shift feel improved, both during cold and during normal operating temps. For the diff I used MOTUL GEAR 300 LS 75W-90. No subjective change in the behaviour of the diff. Here's my original post about the change.

Just a friendly reminder to check the technical spec sheet of oils before you buy them and then double check if the actual product you bought is related to the spec sheet by the product number. I initially wanted Ravenol for the MT, but realised I falled for the marketing wording of the product description... it claimed something like "meets API GL4" specification. However there was no mention of GL4 on the bottle itself when it arrived, so I checked the spec sheet on the Ravenol's website and surely, there wasn't any approved specification...
