i know this has probably been covered before but I was wondering how the fake engine noise that is piped into the cabin can be turned off; is it a coding issue or simply removing a fuse or some other way?

Cheers

in Techstream you can switch on/off ANC and ESE

Techstream doesn't look like the image attached as there's a new version but ANC is still in the 'Others' page

as others have put coding will solve it. Removing the stereo fuse will kill it if you want to check without it. I did about a week before putting it back on.

I used the Carista ODB thing. They try to get you to subscribe at x pounds per month, but the "free" period is enough to do it.

(I put "free" in quotes cos obviously the hardware is paid for, but IMO it's not expensive).

I recommend turning off the noise cancellation too.

To be honest, the car is not fully run in yet so I'll wait until I can extend the engine a bit more to see how it sounds throughout the rev range.
These engines are built to such exacting standards and clearances, my advice is anything 100 miles plus and get the factory engine oil out, and a high quality 0W-20 GF-6A spec engine oil in......and away you go. This is what I did on my own GR Yaris, and what I've done for many customers.

Bear in mind, all you are doing in engine run in is seating piston rings to cylinder walls. It takes very little time/miles for this to occur.

I can carry out your engine oil service and turn ESE off while you wait. I use and recommend Ravenol USVO 0W-20 GF-6A. No Toyota warranty implications here, OEM Oil filter and sump plug washer is used, and the Ravenol meets the optimum engine oil recommendation spec from Toyota. In fact, you are very unlikely to get this spec from your local Toyota dealer. Very few dealers are switched onto this unfortunately.
