GR86 Exhausts

Tarmacsportz
£500, and they had a £10 off offer. So same as the Remark but I wasnt a big fan of the single wall SS.
I think the double wall stainless steel Remark cost me around £440 with the 10% discount offered to the forum members, but I'm not sure if the prices have gone up since.

Anyone know a good website to buy an AWE touring since the black friday sales are still going on? I am from EU and most US sites i checked don't even ship to EU and if they do it's like 800 usd for shipping.

Vipmotorsport in UK, I bought mine around 25th of October, still waiting tho...

I still can't find any decent in car sounds of the Apex'i only one on you tube that is short and has loads of talking. I think i want to go for that, but think it might be too quiet.

It's perfect in my opinion! Just right, not too loud or quiet but that's massively personal!

I'd love to have a listen some time if you would be up for it, or if you have internal videos!

I'm off to Spa in the spring, it would be nice to have noise by then!

Have fitted an MBRP Axleback following @Renskibos clip above.

Feel that I'll have to be careful when leaving early for work as the cold start is quite loud. But it settles down quite nicely.

Carbon tips are a lovely addition too. Drone is minimal below 75mph and not awful above that.

8/10 for me.

Was chatting to our forum sponsors Mongoose exhausts today.

If their is sufficient interest and if someone is willing to lend them a GR86 for a few days then they'll look at designing a system.

Drop me or @GR-Admin a message if you're interested in loaning your car - I'm sure the owner of the development car will be looked after.

Mongoose are based in Congleton, Cheshire and they will not treat your car like a dealer demo!

Is this your for cat backs? Or are they also looking into catted manifolds and overpipe?

Would be cat back initially, but needs support (and a car) to make it happen.

Apex'i ordered!

I was going to try and have a listen to one before ordering, but I'm just too impatient!

The question is do I want the gap filler / diffuser bit?

I told the other half "I got the grown up slightly quieter option" to which she instantly replied, should have got the louder one"

It's a trap, right?

It's nagging a bit at the back of my mind that I should have saved some money, got more noise and got the HKS!

Anyone have a Cobra resonated system?

Seriously thinking of adding one but I wonder, is there any drone at all?

Any other feedback on the Cobra resonated system welcome - please be honest.

It's what I have. Not noticed any drone, right through the rev range. It's perfect for me as the car is my daily. I like the bark on a cold start though.

Copy paste of my initial impressions from December 23.

AWE Touring on my BRZ 2023. Shipping through vip-motorsport.co.uk, ordered 25th Oct, delivered 13th December, installed yesterday.

It's loud. It's loud, this is something I'll put on the first spot while describing the exhaust. While stock is quiet and muffled and cabin speaker starts pumping noise around 3,500 RPM, this exhaust is "talking" from as low as 2000 RPM. It's a mild "bassy", deeply tone. The best I would describe it - imagine small soft turbo stage 1 car - like a VW TFSI 2.0 engine or similar, noise level is comparable.

Sounds it produces inside the cabin are amazing! Finally some "Subie rumble"! You definitely need to be committed to pull a trigger on how much noise you want in the car, but if this is what you are after, it's definitely top notch.

Then into outside noise, oh gosh.... it sounds like a WRC rally car! :D It's amazing as well, no "throaty" crisp and metallic noise, just a "meaty", "bassy", deep sounds and nice tones of the boxer engine. Downshifts from distance are phenomenal, you can easily hear the gas during the downshifts, it's awesome.

Pops and bangs - they are present but not obnoxious present, especially inside the cabin, moreover, you need to work on them to make them happen. They don't make a series of AK47 pew pews but rather 2-3 pops and that's all. It's nowhere near how some people makes tunes for pops-n-bangs.

Cruising at 45km/h on 4th gear (it's below 2000 RPM I believe) makes no sound at all.

Highly recommend if anyone wants to make this car more vivid as I fell in love for the second time :)

I recommend you pull the noise generator. Also, the AWE when driven sensibly is not that loud, but car guys will take notice of it.
I think the car felt much more fun to drive with the AWE than stock.

I did it before starting the car with new exhaust. Initially to hear if it will be loud enough, but after driving it for 15min I knew it's not coming back. I must admit tho, that car is more quiet with ASC off near redline (6750RPM+) than with ASC on, but the sound characteristics are so different that it makes no sense to turn it on.

ASC sounds more metallic, fake, is "trying" to imitate a car/engine sound, while exhaust is deep and you can't mix it up with something else, you can hear galloping ponies :)

Indeed, car is a joy with AWE. I'd restrain anyone from getting a track edition. Touring is loud enough and you will introduce drone with track version. No point saving up couple bucks.

Considering my AWE Touring is due for delivery any time now, reading these comments makes me happy :)

It wasn't cheap to get one sent to the UK, so I'm glad to hear lots of positive feedback.

So I've had a bit of a change of heart. I've had the HKS fitted for 6 months or so now, and generally I'm pleased with it. But I do find myself wanting a little more volume at times. It's louder and better than stock, but I sometimes feel that it's not distinct enough to justify the price I paid (despite the incredible build quality). I get the impression that it suffers with the extra muffling we get from having a GPF. I reckon it would be best paired with a header or front pipe to wake it up a little, but I don't really want to go down that route.

I've seen how everyone raves about the Remark, and tbh I was very close to getting one, but had been put off mainly by the risk of obnoxious cold starts. However, someone has just put an almost brand new one up for sale for under £400...so I've taken a punt an decided to give it a go. I figure as I drive the car infrequently, I might be able to justify the noise ("because racecar"). I intend to run it for a bit and see how I get on. If it's a bit much for me, I can sell it on and revert to the HKS.
