I’ve just seen the Evo magazine are doing a hot hatch test of every single car available in the UK today surprisingly, the GR Yaris is included. I guess as not all customer cars have been delivered yet.

What surprised me though was once again, a standard or convenience pack car was being used, especially when this was a track based test. Is this a case of the only press car Toyota UK now has is a standard or convenience car or is someone linked to the magazine just using their car?

rather funny. its like bringing a 1.6 Golf GL into track battle.

It was slightly annoying the previous two times they've reviewed the car that they used a non circuit pack, but to do it for a hot hatch track test is just stupid. All the other cars will be on Michelin PS4S tyres or equivalent, so it'll be disadvantaged. Why hamstring it by finding a version that makes up less than 5% of UK cars?

It's still only mildly irritating and not really a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but I feel better for having vented. You can have the soap box back now.

I think you summed it up very well.

It came 2nd anyway, amazing considering the CTR is considered untouchable in this version! Would have been close with a circuit pack though, great company to be in and so much cheaper too. Not a bad result. :giggle:

maybe they do not want to praise too much so that they can get one on their own - let's not take press and reviews too seriously.
Those who know, know.
