I'm not sure if spec has now changed but 2 weeks ago TOL were certain I would ńot be getting BSM or Cross Traffic Alert.

If the car has the radars for blind spot monitoring it should have CTA because CTA used the same sensors

Blind spot mirrors are those little circular mirrors that stick onto your existing mirror glass.

Blind Spot Monitoring, is the radar system that lights a LED somewhere on your mirror to let you know of the presence traffic. The car has this.

My driver side blind spot monitoring light seems a lot more sensitive/ active than the passenger side - is that typical?
Passenger side would obvs be dead handy when bopping around lanes in traffic, but mine hardly ever lights up

I'm not sure if it's clever enough, but I think it might be able to work out the relative speed of whatever object it detects. So if you overtake someone, it wont illuminate because you are moving past them. Whereas if someone moves in to your blind spot, it might then illuminate. I'm not 100% on that, but like you, I rarely see the passenger side light up, but the driver's side does whenever someone passes me.

My drivers one is quite sensitive but am thankful for it. I reverse left into my drive and if some moron flies down the estate it sees it and alerts me.

Have we all got the rear cross traffic alert on our manual cars?

I have it and it's activated - quite appropriately and when it should have - a handful of times. Seems quite well judged.

Not sure - what is it?? 🤔

When in reverse gear (whether moving or not), if someone/something is approaching behind you it beeps a warning. When I've been backing out of my driveway into the road and someone's coming the car senses it and warns you.

It does seem well-judged so far, neither activating when the hazard is a mile away like some, nor waiting until they are right on top of you.

It's very far from an essential thing to have as I've been well aware of the hazards coming in those few cases it has activated (because I've got eyes and ears), but it's useful as a safety back up I suppose.

There may well be something in the manual about it but I of course haven't read that...

My passenger one has lit up when I overtook someone on a dual carriageway.
