GR86 Different shade of paint under bonnet

My ignition red car has a dull almost primer like red on all the under bonnet area. Looks a bit crap to be honest. Are all the colors like this or just the red. I have never had a car that wasn’t the same paint in the engine bay.

Any thoughts on this
 
I think it's just the red, the GT86 was exactly the same. But don't look at your door shuts... they are also a different shade. I imagine it's just the base colour, the red is tri coat paint so has 2 different shades of red sprayed one on top of the other. This wasn't the case on the GT86.
 
This is normal on every car.

1. The whole body gets a anti-rust coating
2. the non-visible parts get one layer of (colored) paint
3. the visible parts get a multi-layer paint

So the "outside" color differs from the "inside color".
Some non-visible parts dont have color at all.

This is normal and a cost saving thing. Every manufacturer does that.

Thanks for your replies everyone. All makes sense. I would say to Kosh all cars are not like this I have 4 cars and they are all full body colour under the bonnet. Hopefully we won’t have to look under there to often. I accept that this is clearly quite a common .

That is really bad so you need to sell it to me really cheap so your worries are over. I will take it off your hands at a bargain price - just to help you out as that is the kind hearted type of bloke I am.

BMW really does it differently

My son is 4, he loves to watch car factories, so we watched a lot of videos and I can tell you that many manufacturers only use one colored layer without clear counting.

Yep I quite enjoy being able to polish the painted metal under the bonnet. I will just have to learn to live with it or as suggested sell it on at massive loss to another forum member. Please anyone wishing to register an interest forward me a 1k deposit while I mull it over for a couple of years ;)
